Joshua "Dr. Funky Green" ready on the mound & trying desperately trying to warm up for All You Can Take [Freeze Out] 2005 (which was them playing in 20 degree weather with snow flurries & wind speed that was in the degrees, that took place in February).
Dr. Funky Green, still in the releasing position, as the ball comes towards the anxious & bundled up William "Killer" Held.
William "Killer" Held goes down swinging as Dr. Funky Green watches his pitch & commentates at the same time for GDWL Radio.
Dr. Funky Green interviews Hollywood after All You Can Take 2005 : [Freeze Out] about the temperature & the Viper's future plans.
Group shot of everyone who attended All You Can Take 2005 : [Freeze Out]; Matt "Hollywood" Thornton, Josh "Dr. Funky Green" Smith, & William "Killer" Held.
dr. funky green in a suit, yet again.
New comer to the Green Bears & lifelong friend of the Green Bears, Alex Pauley, retrieves a grounder to Center during Spring Training 2005 at the Hurricane City Park.
Fairly certain that we're the only ones EVER to have played on a skatepark! So, go us, & thank you Skatewinds Skatepark.
Travis Taylor, a newbie to the Vipers, takes the field after Chestar strikes out the side.
Alex Pauley ready to swing at the pitch that Matt "Hollywood" Thornton has just delivered, Travis Taylor awaits in shallow center field.
Josh "Dr. Funky Green" Smith pitching to his brother Matt "Hollywood" Thornton when they headed back to Garrett Drive that same day for some more Spring Training. This is a rare picture indeed, considering he does not pitch too much these days & he is behind the camera taking the snapshots most of the time.
This is the first team photo of the 2005 Green Bears right after game-play, as you can see Chestar is tired, as is Alex, & Josh "Dr. Funky Green" Smith. The reason for the bandana on Dr. Funky Green, you ask? "Well, my hair is a lot longer than it used to be, & I'm not about to cut it anytime soon, so I've adapted to it & wore the bandana so I could see to play, the wind was blowing my hair into my eyes, so I needed a tool of assistance, so the bandanna worked out really well" - Dr. Funky Green.

Dr. Funky Green elaborates/explains the basics to the newcomers while the game is just beginning & the storm is moving in on the 2005 Season Opener @ The Hurricane City Park.
Greg "The Polish Wonder" Szepelak starting on the mound with his new team, The Neopolitan Creamers, against his former teammate's (Aaron Prince) team, the Cows.
Alex Pauley bringing up the near rear end of the batting lineup for the Green Bears in the bottom of the 1st, it was the last at bat (not even completed) before the storm was just not playable anymore, & the came was postponed.
Andrew Hankins hanging out with his team (the Green Bears) & the Neopolitan Creamers after the game was called & plans for the following week were discussed.
Mike Channel & umpire Ann Finley have a brief play sword fight with the bats during post-game conversation & planning.
This is a rough draft of the lineup for the new expansion team, the Neopolitan Creamers.
[Left to right] : Ben McRae, Matt Burdette, Greg "The Polish Wonder" Szepelak, & Mike Channel.
Caitlin Twisdale making her debut, up to bat against teammate Greg Szepelak, on the mound, for the GDWL Memorial Day (exhibition) Tournament. Behind Zep is Jake Logan on 2nd base, Greg Sowards playing short stop, & Aaron Prince playing 3rd base.
Greg "The Polish Wonder" Szepelak on the mound deciding on his next pitch with Jake still on 2nd & Sowards watching from short stop.
Josh "Dr. Funky Green" Smith giving the "come on, man" look to Zep after a wild pitch or a curveball gone bad. Jake Logan still on 2nd, Sowards playing short stop & Prince playing 3rd.
Aaron Prince ready to play ball as he's up to bat against Greg Szepelak (who was all-time pitcher for the first game) as Tyler Call (on the left) & Greg Sowards (right of Tyler) wait on the side in batting lineup.
Jake Logan playing 2nd base, sort of smiling for the camera & Caitlin Twisdale playing 1st base on the far right near the light pole. A bystander is playing basketball in right field which is okay, considering that most of the league is right-handed, thus pulling the ball to left most of the time or making contact on time & hitting it to center.
Tyler Call bringing his unique swing to the game as he strains to swing at this pitch with his one handed (most of the time) approach. Aaron Prince, with bat in hand, struggles to stay out of the pitches path & trys to prepare to block the ball from hitting him if it should pass Tyler.
Hankins shows up a little late, after recieving the message on his cell phone. He joins up quickly & grabs a bat as Aaron plays catcher & Caitlin waits on deck.
That is John, he is a 12 year old little leaguer who was watching us outside the fence for about a half an hour. We finally invited him to play, so he did. He's a great player.
Not only is this kid a good all-around hitter, but this kid (John) could pitch like a mo-fo too. Up to bat is another walkon from beyond the fence watching, another little leaguer too. His name was Jeremy, quite annoying, but he was a lefty & hit it to right, which was relatively refreshing. But, there's more, another walkon beyond those 2 kids. Another kid named Seth, who may have been the best out of the 3 & never said a word, playing short stop behind John.
If there's one thing that Josh Smith has a problem with, it's seeing while he's pitching, due to his long hair (Andrew Hankins also shares this problem). So Caitlin was kind enough to pull some of his hair back. You say embarassing, he says "desperate times call for desperate measures."
The exhaustion is starting to show after nearly 3 hours of solid hard playing. Matt "Hollywood" Thornton showed up the latest & on the mound waiting for someone to throw the ball back as Andrew Hankins plays 3rd & Tyler Call plays short stop.
Matt "Hollywood" Thornton trying to repair the Green Frankin bat while preparing for the first regular season game since opening day this past May (almost 2 months!!!) The Vipers had yet to make their season debut until now.
Greg "Chestar" Sowards anxiously awaiting his starting pitching appearance against the Green Bears rivals : the Vipers. Chestar has been old foe of the team, for quite some time now.
The game match up for this 7/8/2005 game :
The Vipers vs the Green Bears.

Matt "Hollwood" Thornton on the mound against Greg "Chestar" Sowards. A pitching duel? Yes.
William "Killer" Held out of town during this time, so Travis Hall stepped in as outfielder & in the batting lineup. Josh "Dr. Funky Green" Smith, as usual, bringing his defensive stylings & hitting.
Josh "Dr. Funky Green" Smith & Greg "Chestar" Sowards discuss tactics prior to the game starting. This will be the first completed regular season game for the Green Bears this season, & both Greg & Josh have had enough of the league's lack of committment, they've had enough & are pressing forward.
Trevor Hetrick aka "Willis" due to the Willis jersey from the Florida Marlins. Makes his second appearance with the GDWL in 2 days at the Hurricane City Park for another exhibition game/hit-around. His team with his brother Kyle "Nick" Hetrick called Dragons is currently in 3rd place out of 5 teams in the GDWL with a 0 and 1 record.
Alex Pauley getting congratulated by the rest of his team (Greg to the left, Josh to the right) when Alex got a game winning hit in the bottom of the third with one out, hitting it the opposite way for the Green Bears to keep their undefeated winning streak for the season alive.
