2005 Germany Soccer Tour
On June 7th, 19 boys left Houston to go on a 2 week soccer tour to Germany.
The boys play for many different clubs in Houston including Texas Rush, Eclipse, Texas Premier, and HFW National.
Overall, the trip was a wonderful experience. Not only did the boys learn how soccer is played and respected in another part of the world, but they were also treated to the wonderful cultural experiences that Germany had to offer.
Attached is just a small sample of over 2,000 pictures and many hours of video that was taken during the trip.
Plans are in the works for the boys to receive a DVD highlighting their trip.
Also attached are emails from parents letting those back home know how the boys are doing overseas.
Day 1
The travel to Germany went very well. The boys were well behaved and several adults even commented on how well they behaved. Having PSP video games kept many of them busy. The transfer from Gatwick to Heathrow airports in London was a pain, but we made it just fine. Our red shirts were a big hit because we parents could easily pick out our boys in the crowd and also many people came up to all of us to ask about our team and our trip.
Chris met us at the Frankfurt airport and Wolfgang took several of us into town to pick up the vans. The boys all hit the McDonalds in the airport to get lunch. Here they are only one day away from the US and they had to go get burgers. We drove to our first hostel and we checked in (5:45 pm local time). There is a central lodge and then the rooms are duplex/townhouse type buildings. We are in places of 6 people each. The ladies have one place. The dads have another place and the boys are split up in groups of 6 in the other places. We all had dinner at the restaurant in the lodge and then Chris took the boys out for a run up and down some pretty good size hills.
This morning (Wednesday) the boys have gone with Chris down to get some practice in.
