JV Ladies Finish 7-3 in First Season

Words to, for, about the wonderful season the JV Ladies had - from your Coach:

The RHS girls JV team finished their inaugural season 7-3.

The team consisted of 17 motivated girls entering a sport where 14 never played the game of lacrosse prior to this season. The athletes built a successful team by a foundation of commitment to perform at their best each day, which is a measurement of true champions. Along with the commitment to perform at their best was their positive sportsmanship at each contest, which was noted repeated by officials.

The characteristic they all shared was their willingness to learn new skills and quickly apply the skills in practice and in games. Based upon the girls’ commitment to play, their willingness to learn and apply skills, and their sportsmanship, the girls have set the bar for the success of the future JV lacrosse teams.

Congratulations Ladies- the future of RHS lacrosse is in good hands.

    Go Rams!

Text of Gazette preview about our ladies:
Another team that is looking forward to the new season is Rockville. Last year, the first-year under coaches Janis Maloney and Shella Burch, the Rams won 11 games, and made it so the regional semifinals. This year, they want to go even farther. Rockville did not lose anyone to graduation and return seniors Anna Schmidt, who led the team in scoring, and her fellow attacker and classmate Megan Johnsey. Senior Mel Turner will man the midfield, and junior Mary Gorman will head up the defense.
‘‘They have embraced a new persona,” Maloney said. ‘‘They are tired of being viewed as the team that always gets beaten. They are glad that they aren’t under the radar anymore.”

    Rockville Rams
Head coach: Janis Maloney, 2nd year
    Last year’s record: 11-3
    League affiliation: Montgomery 3A⁄2A⁄1A Division
Players to watch: Anna Schmidt (Sr. A), Megan Johnsey (Sr., M)
