Jersey Boyz Baseball Club caps off its season with 3 championships in the month of July. Outscoring opponents 235 - 74 with a record of 23 - 2 in July. As the boyz rest up for the next couple of weeks, they  will begin their fall season in early September. If interested in trying out please fill out the 15U Player Registration Form.

Long Time Jersey Boyz Catcher, Michael Ionta, commits to St. Peter's University

As of Tuesday November 19th, Westfield High School's Michael Ionta signed his National Letter of Intent to cotinue his academic and baseball career at St. Peter's University. The Westfield backstop has played battery mate to the school's pitching staff since his sophomore year and as a result has been selected to Two Union-Essex County Allstar games,  a Garden State Underclassmen Selection and has garnished 2nd and 3rd Team All Union County Selections.  During his career with the Jersey Boyz, Michael received 2 Tournment MVP awards and was a 2x Perfect Game All Tournament Team selection. Congratulations Michael on your recent accomplishment, we are so proud of you!

Jersey Boyz Star Infielder, Luis Amaro, commits to Frank Phillips College in Texas  

Luis Amaro, a sure handed corner infielder, has decided to continue his baseball career at Frank Phillips College in Texas. Amaro hit .505 with three home runs, 14 doubles, and a triple in his junior season. He had 44 hits in all, finishing with 40 RBI and scoring 26 runs. Also drew 23 walks and stole eight bases.

Luis has compiled an outstanding profile playing for the Jersey Boyz Baseball Club and at RPHS. He is a 2x Perfect Game All Tournament Team selection, All Group 1 First Team Selection (2013), All Group 1 Second Team Selection (2012), All Group 1 Third Team Selection (2011), All Union County First Team Selection (2013), All Union County Second Team Selection (2012), All Union County Third Team Selection (2011), a 2x Union County All-star Game Selection (2013, 2012), Union County Essex County All-star Game MVP (2012), and a Garden State Underclassmen Selection (2013).  

Jersey Boyz top prospect, Mark Venice, commits to St. John's

Seton Hall Prep OF/P Mark Venice, considered one of the state's top prospects, has verbally committed to continue his career at St. John's University. The 6-1, 210 pound Venice, a Bayonne native, selected the New York school on Wednesday over offers from Seton Hall, Old Dominion and others. He also had heavy interest from Virginia and other schools down South.

Last season, Venice hit .368 (32-for-87) with three homeruns, 25 RBI, 26 runs 26 walks, nine stolen bases and a 1.138 OPS to earn First Team All-Essex honors for the second consecutive year. As a pitcher, Venice was 5-0 with 30 strikeouts and a 0.81 ERA in 26 innings, allowing 19 hits and six walks for a Seton Hall Prep team, which went 30-3, won the Greater Newark Tournament and NJSIAA North Jersey, Non-Public A titles and finished No. 4 in The Star-Ledger Top 20.

Mark enters his senior year as an All Non-Public 2^nd Team Selection, a 2x All Essex County 1^st Team Selection, a 2x Essex County All-star Game Selection and a Garden State Underclassmen Selection.

Jersey Boy and Marist stand out, Matthew Littrell, commits to Monmouth University

 After an exciting summer and many offers from many colleges and universities around the country, long time Jersey Boy Matthew Littrell has commited to Monmouth University. Matt has been with the Jersey Boyz Organization since its inception and has a lot of success participating in some of the nation's most prestigious showcases. The 3x varsity letter winner has posted a 19-9 career record with 179 strikeouts and a ERA of 1.75. Littrell is a All Group, 3x All Hudson County, and Garden State Underclassmen selection. Congratulations Matty, all that hardwork is paying off. We are so proud of you!  

Elizabeth native and Jersey Boy, Martin Tavares, commits to the University of Rhode Island

Tavares, a stocky switch hitting catcher has decided to continue his baseball career at the University of Rhode Island. Tavares was selected to All Union County Teams his Sophomore, Junior and Senior seasons. He was also a two time selection to the Union County Allstar game. Congratulations Martin!

Congratulations to Jersey Boy, Fernando Guerrero, on his commitment to Marshall University

Fernando a First Team All Union County Selection. In his senior year, the hard-throwing right-hander was 4-1 with a 0.57 ERA in 36-2/3 innings, striking out 42 and walking 15. Allowed just 21 hits and had a WHIP of 0.98. Also hit .354 with three home runs, six doubles, 14 runs, 11 RBI and a .418 on-base percentage.

Jersey Boyz, Christian Zazzali, commits to Tufts University

Scotch Plains second baseman Christian Zazzali will continue his playing career at Tufts University after committing to the Medford, Mass., school recently.

Zazzali, a senior, was a First Team All-Union County honoree last spring as a junior after hitting .424 with 36 hits and 33 runs. Zazzali had a home run, seven doubles and two triples, finishing with 10 RBI, and posted an on-base percentage of .495 and slugged .588. He also stole 15 bases. "Christian is a three-year captain, and he is the leader of the team on and off the field," Scotch Plains coach Tom Baylock said. Zazzali, who has a 4.23 grade point average in the classroom, helped the Raiders to their sixth consecutive appearance in the Union County Tournament semifinals last season. Scotch Plains (15-10 in 2013) finished with 15 or more victories for the seventh time in the last 10 seasons.

Former Jersey Boy, Brian Rapp, takes talents down south to IMG Academy in preparation for Boston College

After dominating Morris County hitters for the past two seasons, Brian Rapp is ready to embark of his newest baseball challenge. And he'll be traveling more than 1,000 miles for it. Rapp, this spring's Morris County Player of the year will not be returning to Delbartonfor his senior season. Instead he is transferring to the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. For Rapp, the decision was one of the most difficult he's ever had to make. "It was extremely difficult. Me and my parents took a while to think about it and we had to weigh all of the different options," said Rapp, a Boston College commit. "Obviously there's positives and negatives to everything, but we just felt at this point it was best for me with my career and where I want to go and where I aspire to go."It's going to be a culture shock, it's going to be a change, but it's something I've come to the realization that I think it's what's best for me and where I want to go in life. Anything I can do to see myself grow as a person and as an athlete."

A three-year varsity player at Delbarton, Rapp emerged as one of the state's premier starting pitchers. After beginning the season in the bullpen, Rapp moved into the rotation midway through the year and won all four of his starts. Rapp, a Second Team All-State selection, went 7-0 with a 0.45 ERA and two saves. He struck out 69 batters in 47 innings, allowing 29 hits and 12 walks.

As a sophomore in 2012, his work in relief and at shortstop made him a key cog for a Delbarton squad which won the Morris County Tournament and reached the NJSIAA North Jersey, Non-Public A title game.
