The Scott County SCRC Chapter 372 Guidelines for Ride Captain Certification are as follows:

(1) The person must complete a Ride Captain training session as provided by the Safety Officer.

(2) They must then plan a safe route, scouting it in advance, planning for blockers, fuel stops, breaks, and contingencies and go over the ride plan with a club Officer or previously certified Road Captain.

(3) He /She must then successfully lead and complete the ride with a Club Officer or Certified Road Captain of the club as co- leader.

Upon a successful evaluation by the officer as co-leader, a Ride Captain Pin will be presented as certification that the ride leader has met the clubs certification requirements. This enables the person to plan, lead and advertise rides through the club forum as they choose.
