The Chase is On!

July 12, 2008
We break down the Seals chase for the playoffs in the Western Conference

With the Frogs loss last night to the Orange County BlueStar they are now out of the picture, leaving just five teams in the chase.

With a win tonight the Seals would eliminate the Legends from the race which would leave only four teams standing:  Fresno, Ventura, Seals, and Quakes.

Fresno is in control of it's own destiny while the Seals and Ventura are currently two points behind the leader's pace, with the Quakes are another three points back.  Ventura currently holds the tie-breaker over the Seals with a superior goal difference of +11 vs. the Seals +5, so technically the Seals would be in 3rd place with a win tonight.

The Quakes are currently the hottest team in the division and have two games with Fresno over the final two weekends of the season.  A split in this series would serve the Seals well and position them for a division title run.  Ventura ends the season with tough road games against the Quakes and Legends.

But it all hinges on the Seals picking up at least four points this weekend and the full six could leave us in the driver's seat depending on the outcome of the Fresno-Quakes game tonight.

Come on you Seals!
