Joe Bogdan had a solid day on the hill for us Dirtbags. Even though we decided to give him no run support. Jack came in to relieve Joe but that 6th inning just tore us apart. Errors and BB's!
Andrew Kihn came through with a good bat deep in the lineup. One of our only extra base hits!

FINES?????? WHO K'D LOOKING? SOMEBODY DID! AND ERRORS? LET ME KNOW!
The Dirtbags 10 run ruled a team for the second straight week! After this weeks crazy offensive performance, the Dirtbags lead the entire SFNABA in runs scored!
Jack Bowers started his fourth straight game and gave the Dirtbags another solid outing. Even though it was the least impressive performance this season. Bryan Thompson & Chris Meyer were able to come in and finish it off. As it only took 7 innings.
Sam Meyer gave the Dirtbags momentum whenever it was needed. Playing solid defense once again. He also BLASTED a bases clearing triple on a 3-0 count!

This weeks DIRTBAG OF THE WEEK award goes to #1 Chester Dancer! Chester played a very solid center field. Running down a deep fly ball in the gap to save a sure triple! Besides the great D, he smacked his 2nd home run of the season! ONLY 4 GAMES IN! Also lets congratulate Chester on his new born baby boy. Chase Dancer! Welcome to the DB family!

DirtBags Win by 8 Despite Bats in Hibernation!
Great team victory this week. Despite the first and second inning blues there were some impressive performances displayed during our 13-5 victory over the Blue Claws. Jack "Jack Nasty" Bowers displayed a impressive pitching performance going eight innings with five strikeouts and four walks.
Paul Morris really got things going in the 3rd inning with a one out walk to eventually score on an attempted pickoff play to second. Good heads-up play there! Dante Jackson made a good play in Right Field in the third inning to take away a would-be single.
Mayne of the Blue Claws got things going with a lead-off walk in the fourth inning. He stole second base, and scored on a two out double hit to center field by Vidmar of the Blue Claws. While Mayne was on second base Kenny Bobek made an excellent defensive play, diving up the middle and making a sharp snap to firstbase to get the assist on Lichtestien!
Despite almost invoking the ten-run rule against the Blue Claws our bats were not as live as they need to be! I think Brett Badelle set the tone for the game with a two out walk in the second inning only to be left stranded by third out strike out. Our first hit of the game came in the fifth inning when Badelle slapped one to the left side for a single. After two steals and several pickoff attempts, only to be left stranded on third by three straight stikeouts by Thompson, Jackson, and Morris!
The sixth inning proved fatal for the Blue Claws when their pitcher served up eight walks for six runs scored. Chris Meyer showed his true colors launching a base clearing triple worth three RBIs!, and a total of nine runs scoring in the inning!
All in All everyone played a great game, a great team victory, welcome back Raymond, and go Dirt!

Artichioke's Served Dirty Style
The REAL Dirtbags came out to play on Saturday to keep Artichoke Joe's winless! Once again Jack "Jack Nasty" Bowers had an impressive pitching performance with seven strikeouts in six innings pitched. Despite eight walks he kept Artichoke Joes to three hits. Joe Bogdan came in relief, served up two strikeouts and gave up two hits in three innings pitched.
The DirtBags' bats were alive and punished Artichoke Joe's with fifteen hits in nine innings! After Artichoke Joe's retired the first three DirtBags hitters in order, Sam Meyer led off the second inning with a drive to left field for a hit. Joe Bogdan drew a walk to put two runners on with no outs. Brett Badelle came up with a fielder’s choice to move the runners. Bryan Thompson came up with an infield hit to third base to score Sam Meyers for the first RBI of the game! Paul Morris came up with a shot waaayyy too hot for the shortstop to handle and scored Joe Bogdan and pick-up a single for himself!
The fifth inning proved to be a productive inning for both teams as the DirtBags scored two and Artichoke Joe's scored three. The DirtBags scored two with an impressive one out hit by Sam Meyer. Joe Bogdan came up with a RBI double to put the score at 4-5 in favor of Artichoke Joe's. Brett Badelle then came up with a sweet hit to right field to score Bogdan and to pick-up a single.
Defensively the outfield had a heck of a time dealing with the high winds. John Matthews came up with a great catch to end the fourth inning. Paul Morris went to center field in the 7th inning and took away a possible double with a running catch!
Best of all the DirtBags put the NAIL IN THE COFFIN in the seventh inning with a lead off Homerun by Chester Dancer! This was followed by hits from Sam Meyer and Bogdan. Badelle once again cleaned up with two RBI's to put the DirtBags at 7-5 Brett Badelle 2-3 with three RBI's and gets PLAYER of THE GAME honors.
Zach Thomas and Ryan Twietmeyer had good days at the plate as well.
DirtBags Suffer Tough Loss in Season Opener
Despite some great plays the DirtBags suffered a tough loss against the Diablos during their season opener at Big Rec Graham in San Fransico. Jack "Jack Nasty" Bowers' threw seven innings serving up as many strikeouts. Jack certainly utilized his change up to keep the Diablos at bay. With two runners on base Bryan Thompson hit a dribbler down the first base line to score Joe Bogdan. Chris Meyers came up with a shot up the middle to score Brett Badelle to put the DirtBags at 2 runs scored in the second.
During late innings the DirtBags attempted to stage a comeback when Ryan Tweitmeyer ate up the third baseman with a hot shot to move the runner over and pick up a single for himself. Dante Jackson came back with a crucial hit to left to keep the dream alive. No runs scored that inning though!
Defensively Will Weston made a miraculous recovery and shot Sean Brooks at third base to take away a triple! Sam Meyer made a great foul ball catch as well.
Jack Bowers and the DirtBags kept the Diablos close to for the first part of the game but made some costly errors towards the end to start the season one game back in the Ocean West.
