Strikers of Gaston County Soccer Association (SGCSA)
Hello soccer fans. We are The Strikers of Gaston County Soccer Association and we are located in Gaston County, NC where we serve players from the entire area. We are sanctioned by the North Carolina Youth Soccer Association and we offer three levels of soccer: Recreation, Challenge, and Classic.
Our club is based on strict volunteerism which helps keep the costs down for the players. Our recreation and competitive teams have won and/or placed in several local, regional, and state tournaments through the years. Our competitive boys teams are known as SGCSA Flames and our girls competitive teams are known as SGCSA Hurricanes.
Our recreation teams participate in a variety of leagues within the Gaston County community while our competitive teams participate with the Charlotte Area Youth Soccer League (Challenge) and the NCYSA Classic League.
During August we cooperate with Cramerton Recreation Department to offer an annual 3 v 3 tournament for all of the children in the community.
We hope to continue our success for several years down the road. Please feel free to contact us or sign our guestbook. We would like to hear from you.
Challenge and Classic Information
CHALLENGE SOCCER
Challenge soccer closes the gap between recreation and classic soccer by allowing those children an opportunity to play in a more competitive level, all in preparation for tryouts with a classic team or even a school team in the future. At this level of competition, the financial and personal commitments from the parent and the player are strong.
League games and traveling for challenge teams is usually in the Charlotte Area. The primary focus for challenge is individual development with moderate tactical skill development. Practices are held at least twice per week, usually 1½ - 2 hours in length each. Attendance to the practices and to the games is mandatory.
CLASSIC SOCCER
Classic soccer offers the highest level of competition for those players who are skillful enough to play in this environment. The commitment from the players and parents at this level must be very strong.
Traveling for classic teams is more extensive than challenge soccer. The primary focus for classic is intense conditioning/individual development with moderate to advanced tactical skill development. Practices are held at least twice per week, usually 1½ - 2 hours in length each. Attendance to the practices and to the games is mandatory.
FEES
Our club is based on true volunteerism as our coaches are not paid for their time, which makes our club very affordable. The player fees can vary based on fees imposed by NCYSA, CAYSL, referee fees, cost of uniforms, and the number of tournaments the team will attend. This fee does not include traveling expenses such as hotels, meals, etc. Keeping the fees low is part of our club goals.
