This site is dedicated to the 2008 11 Year Old STORM Travel. The STORM Travel Baseball Program offers Teams at the following ages: 9, 10, 11,and 12.The other STORM websites can be found on the Links Page which is located in the left hand column of this page.
The 11 year old STORM Team is made up of some of the most talented 11 year old Boys from Cheektowaga, New York and it's Surrounding Areas. This Team plays in the Clarence Travel League, which is composed of Many Organizations who put their best 11 year olds on the field to compete against each other in a highly competitive League. This Team will also play in 3 local Tournaments and 1 - 2 out of Town Tournaments. Each of these boys will play approximately 35 games this season between House Ball, Travel League, and Tournaments. This Storm Team will also be heading to Cooperstown in the summer 2009. They will be going to Cooperstown Baseball World to compete in a National Tournament where they will play Teams from all over the United States and Canada.
The first STORM team was started by Ron Nero and Tony Sekuterski in 2001.Thier goal was to take a group of local boys from the Southline Athletic Association which is now Southline Little League and advanced them to the next level. Ron Nero and Tony Sekuterski have made the STORM well known through out the community and Region by competing in National Tournaments and finishing very high in all of them. The Storm has only been around for a short while but it has already made an impact on many people in and around the Western New York Area. It is teams like the Storm that have opened the eyes of other local organizations. These Organizations are also putting together Travel Teams and by doing so there are alot of young boys able to play baseball at a very high level. These Organizations have a lot of hard work ahead of them and no gaurantee that they will be as successful as the STORM already has. Ron Nero and Tony Sekuterski have since moved on and are Coaching at Medille College.
Since then Darryl Kumro and Ray Struzik kept the tradition alive by starting a STORM team in 2003 when the boys were 10. These boys are now 14-15 years old and are all playing for thier High School Teams as well as in the American Legion League. These boys have set the bar at a very high level for these teams to follow, but with hard work and dedication the sky is the limit for all of them. In 2005 this team went to Cooperstown and played in the Cooperstown Baseball World National Tournament and finished in 2nd place. They played teams from Florida, Maine, Massachuttes, New Jersey, New York, and Kentucky. This was an awesome expierience and something the rest of the STORM teams can look forward to. Darryl Kumro has started this tradition over again with the help of Dave Schiersing, Kevin Sekuterski, and Steve Brnik. In 2005 they started a 8 year old Storm Tournament Team and continued on with them in 2006 and 2007 for thier 9 & 10 year old seasons. The 2008 season will be the Teams forth season together and everyone has high expectations.
The 12 year old STORM team was started in 2006 and is headed by Dennis Crawley with the help of Jeff Roberts,Kevin Sekuterski and David Kennedy. They will play in the Clarence Travel League as well as play in 3-4 Tournaments in 2007.They will also be looking to play in an out of town Tournament
All of these coaches have decided to take these Teams of Local Boys and try to advance them in what they hope will be a once in a lifetime expierience. They have done this by entering National Tournaments and well as playing in the Clarence Travel League where they will be playing against the best Teams Western New York has to offer as well as against some of the best talent from around the U.S.
We are ALL very excited about the upcoming 2008 season which starts in late April. Our Teams Objectives this year is to provide a enviornment that is positive and enjoyable for both players and parents alike. We will also like to build Character, and Confidence in each and every Boy by giving them the opportunity to be a part of the "STORM" Tradition. Each Boy was selected to be part of the STORM by their playing Skills, Leadership, Character and by their on and off the field Performance. We know we will be a very competitive team this year and for many more years to come. We would like to emphasize that winning is not everything, but with hard work and dedication we will reach our goal which is to be a very successful team. The purpose of this team is to play competitive baseball and to provide a supportive and competitive enviorment that the Boys can use as young men as well as in their future.
We will be teaching our players that this is a team sport and to be successful you have to play as a team. We will win as a team as well as lose as a team, not as individuals. We would like to ask all the parents involed to please help us with our team theory and not only comment your son on how well he did but also make some positive comments to the other players as well .
Lastly, we would like to ask ALL parents and players to please give a full 100% commitment, effort, to make this season be successful ,fun ,exciting, and most of all ENJOYABLE , for all of us who will be involved .

Darryl Kumro
