    Boys Varsity Suffers 1st Loss of Season
    South Elgin defeated both Varsity and JV Boys in their match up on Tuesday. Varsity lost overall by 234 pins. JV lost overall by 420 pins.
    Varsity is now 3-1 and JV is 1-3.

    High Scorers for varsity were Joe Melone (196-game 1 & 195-game 2) and Jim Fraczek (205-game 3). Anthony Bauer also had high scores of 194 & 191.

    JV High Scorers were Brian Rieger (154-game 1) & Zach Remmers (153-game 1, 136-game 2 & 121-game 3).

    Tomorrow we will face Larkin High at Woodview Lanes at 4:15 p.m.

    Girls Bowling Season Update
    Varsity:

    So far we are off to an 0-2 record, but getting stronger. Last night against Larkin the Varsity lost by 339 pins compared to the lost to IMSA by 560 pins.

    High game against Larkin was: Amelia Kolaczewski & Sarah Shultz with 147.

    High game against IMSA was: Sarah Michales with a 188..


    Junior Varsity:

    Record: 0-2

    Lost to IMSA by: 28 pins with only 3 JV members playing

    High game: Emily Schultz with a 108

    Lost to Larkin by: 292 pins

    High game: Katie Conro with a 120

    Boys Bowling Week of December 1st
    Today (Tuesday 12/2), we play South Elgin at Elgin Lanes beginning at 4:30 p.m. Boys need to be there by 4:15. Tomorrow (Wednesday 12/3), we play Larkin at Woodview Lanes (off of Rt. 19 in Elgin). Please meet at Woodview at 4 p.m.

    On Saturday, we will be participating in the Inaugural IC Knights Invitational at Stardust Bowl in Addison. Varsity boys will meet at Stardust Bowl at 8:30 p.m. with the tourney beginning at 9 a.m.

    Varsity & JV Defeat IC
    Varsity Boys defeated IC to improve their record to 3-0 on Tuesday. Varsity won all three games to take the match by 442 pins. High scorers were Joe Melone (224 & 233), Anthony Bauer (201)and Jim Fraczek (197).

    JV won their first match of the season defeating IC by 90 pins overall. The first game was a tie and the next two went to St. Ed's. Zach Remmers was the high scorer in two out of three games with a 158 & 143. Tim Cibich was the high scorer in game two with a 129. Dan Cibich had a high score of 121.

    Our next match will be Tuesday, December 2nd @ Elgin Lanes vs. South Elgin at 4:30 p.m. Hope to see you there to cheer us on!

    Survivor Tournament This Saturday!
    This coming Saturday, November 22nd Boys Bowling will be competing in the Survivor Tournament at Don Carter Lanes in Rockford. Boys should arrive at St. Ed's no later than 11 a.m. Lunch will be served and the tournament will begin at 1:30 p.m. Boys should wear their uniform shirts with their khaki pants. If you have any questions, please contact Coach Cindy asap.

    Boys Varsity Wins Again!
    Congrats to Boys Varsity, who is now 2-0 after defeating Elgin High by 38 pins overall. Elgin won the first game by 38 pins but St. Edward came from behind again, winning the next two games and taking the match. High scorers were Jim Fraczek with a 222 & 203 (3 game total 621) and John Currie with a 219 (our 5th Varsity player to bowl a 200+ game). Luke McCullagh had a 3 game total of 512 with a high score of 191. Way to go Varsity!

    JV won the first game against Elgin by 43 pins but unfortunately lost the next two games. They are now 0-2. Zach Remmers led JV with a three game total of 341, followed by Blake Poremba with a three game total of 340 and Brian Rieger with a three game total of 331.

    Saturday we will be participating in the Survivor Tournament in Rockford.

    Our next regular season game is against IC next Tues. November 25th at Elgin Lanes 4:30 p.m. Go Wave!

    Our next match is tomorrow, Monday, Nov. 17th at Elgin Lanes vs. Elgin High @ 4:30p. Bowlers need to be there in uniform (khaki pants) by 4:15p.

    Team pictures have been rescheduled for Monday, November 24th at 4:30p @ St. Edward High School. Please be there in uniform by 4:15p.

    Varsity Wins First Match!
    In their first meeting of the season, St. Ed's Boys Varsity defeated Driscoll by eighteen pins in a come from behind victory. Driscoll won the first two games and led by 135 pins. The boys really pulled together though in game 3 to outscore Driscoll by 153 pins to take the match. High scorers for the Wave were seniors Anthony Bauer with a 227 & 213 and Jim Fraczek with a 214 & 201. Way to go, Varsity!

    JV Boys also had a good outing, winning two out of the three games. Unfortunately, Driscoll ended up winning the match by a total of 13 pins.
    High scorers for JV were junior, Kevin Latzko with a 183 & 159, sophomore Blake Poremba with a 165 and junior Brian Rieger with a 162.

    Boys Bowling is off to a great start! Our next match is at Elgin Lanes on Monday, November 17th vs. Elgin High. Come out and cheer us on!

    Match tomorrow (Wednesday, November 12th) vs. Driscoll at Elgin Lanes @ 4:30 p.m. Please arrive by 4:15 p.m. Bowlers should wear their new shirts with khaki pants.

    Congrats to Anthony Bauer and Luke McCullagh for bowling over 200 this week. Anthony bowled a 203 at yesterday's practice and Luke bowled a 225 at today's practice.

    Congrats to Anthony Bauer (Varsity) and Kevin Latzko (JV) for earning "team captain". Anthony bowled a 572 and Kevin bowled a 447 to lead their teams in a bowl-off on Monday.

    Lastly, team pictures scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 15th have been rescheduled to Monday, November 24th - time tbd.

    Boys Bowling Off To A Great Start!
    Boys Bowling is off to a great start already! Senior Jim Fraczek & Junior Joe Melone both bowled 200-plus games at our 1st official practice. Jim bowled a 222 & a 224. Joe bowled a 213 & a 205. This is just the beginning!!

    Beginning averages are as follows.
    Jim (206), Anthony (187), Joe (178), Luke (165), John (154), Kevin (139), Tim (134), Blake (127), Brian (124), Zach (124), Dan (87).

    We would like to welcome back Junior Kevin Latzko. Also, a Green Wave welcome to our newest bowler, Senior Julien Vitale.

    Go Wave! Only 9 more days to our first contest with Driscoll.

    Also, please make sure you check out the revised Boys Schedule. There have been additions including matches with Larkin and Elgin H.S. Also, we will be participating in the tournament on Jan. 3 in Rockford. Mark your calendars!

    Boys Bowling Reminders
    Just a few reminders for boys bowling . . .

    Practice Monday at Elgin Lanes from 4:30-6. Blue Cards must be turned in to Coach Cindy in order to practice. NO EXCEPTIONS!!

    The cost for the team shirt is $40. Please give to Coach Cindy asap. Checks should be made payable to St. Edward High School. Cash is also acceptable. If you would like to fundraise to help offset the cost of the shirt, please contact Coach Dawn asap as the girls are selling candy bars.

    Team Pictures are Saturday, November 15th. Please meet in uniform no later than noon. Picture package forms will be distributed at practice as soon as I receive them.

    If you are going to miss a practice or game, please advise Coach Cindy asap.

    If you know of anyone who would like to join the bowling team, please tell them to come out this week and check us out.

    Don't forget, if you need some extra bowling tips come out to Elgin Lanes on Saturday around noon and Ken Hudziak will be available to work with you.

    Winter Sports Registration THIS COMING MONDAY
    The Winter Sports Registration is this coming Monday, October 27th at St. Edward High School 6:30 p.m. There will be a brief meeting at 7p to meet with the coaches. Boys, you will need to sign up and pay your fee if you wish to practice this week. Practice begins Tuesday, October 28th from 4:30-6p at Elgin Lanes. The fee for any winter sport is $185. If you participated in a fall sport, you will just need to pay your winter fee and fill out another emergency form for the winter coach. Your physical is already on file. If this is the first time you will be participating in a sport this year, you will also need an updated physical, plus fill out the necessary forms that are available online including emergency form, transportation form, athletic code form, email form, etc. I will need to have your blue card on Tuesday, before you can practice. The only way to get a blue card is to have all the necessary forms and payment in to the athletic office. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Coach Cindy asap at 224-345-1716.     Thank you to all our bowling families who braved the elements to attend the bowling recognition last night. It was a fun time for all who attended! Also, thanks to Nancy Melone for another wonderful cake! It was a pleasure to coach these young men this season and last and want to sincerely thank you for that pleasure.     Boys Bowling Recognition - TONIGHT!
    The Boys Bowling Recognition night is still on. We will be at Elgin Lanes at 6p to pass out awards and cake. If you paid for bowling and pizza, it's up to you if you want to stay. If you choose to leave because of the storm, your pizza and bowling money will be refunded.

    IHSA Boys Bowling Sectionals Outcome
    The IHSA Boys Bowling Sectionals took place today at Brunswick Zone in Roselle. St. Edward took 6th place, missing 5th place (IC) by only 1 pin! Lake Park (1st) and Fenton (2nd) qualified for State, next Friday. St. Patrick (3rd) and Driscoll (4th) were the other top teams. Individually, Anthony Bauer was 19th, Jim Fraczek 21st, Joe Melone 22nd and Kevin Haggard 26th in the top 40. St. Edward made a very respectable showing and we are very proud of them!

    Joe Melone (Soph) - bowled a 1069 with high scores of 201 and 216
    Jim Fraczek (Jr) - bowled a 1076 with high scores of 232 and 225
    Kevin Haggard (Jr) - bowled a 990 with a high score of 204
    John Currie (Jr) - bowled an 864 with a high score of 175
    Anthony Bauer (Jr) - bowled an 1107 with high scores of 204, 204 and 213

    This time last year, we were in last place. The boys have come a long way and look forward to being even better next year!

    IHSA Boys Bowling Sectional Meet Info
    The IHSA Boys Bowling Sectional Meet is this coming Saturday, January 19th at BRUNSWICK ZONE - ROSELLE, 1100 W. Lake St., Roselle, IL 60172 (630) 351-2100. Brunswick Zone is located in Roselle, 1/2 mile west of Roselle Road on Lake Street and approximately 5 miles west of I-355. The van will leave St. Edward High School promptly at 10:15 p.m. Bowlers should bring a snack or spending money for food available there. No food from outside vendors will be allowed in the facility.

    Participants: Anthony Bauer, John Currie, Jim Fraczek, Kevin Haggard, and Joe Melone. Luke McCullagh, who also qualified will be unable to attend.

    We will be bowling against: Driscoll, Fenton, Chicago Academy, Schurz, St. Patrick, Steinmetz, Taft, IC and Lake Park (host school).

    Warm-Ups will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the competition beginning at 11:45 a.m.

    The two teams with the highest level pin count for both rounds will advance to the State Finals. The two top scoring individuals who are not members of a qualifying team shall also advance.

    The State Finals will be held on Friday and Saturday, January 25 & 26 at St. Clair Bowl in O'Fallon.

    Show your support and come cheer the boys on! There will be a Spectator Admission of $5 per individual. Go Wave!!



    Boys Bowling Recognition Night
    The St. Edward Boys Bowling Recognition night will be Tuesday, February 5th at Elgin Lanes from 6-8 p.m. Boys will be bowling against Mom or Dad. Pizza and Pop will be served. Appetizers and / or a dessert to pass is welcomed! A flyer will be going home on Thursday. The cost is $5 per person if you plan to eat and $1 per game, per bowler. Please return your R.S.V.P. with payment by Tuesday, January 15th. Checks should be made payable to Cindy Gaige. If you have any questions, please feel free to call or email Cindy.

    The 200-Plus Club Keeps Growing
    Kudos to Junior, John Currie who bowled a 210 in Game 2 of our contest today against Proviso East. John was so close last week, when he bowled a 199 against Driscoll. We knew it was just a matter of time. John is the 6th Varsity player to have surpassed the 200 mark. Way to go John!!

    St. Edward vs. Proviso East
    Both Varsity and JV was defeated by Proviso East in bowling action on Monday. High Scorers were as follows:
    Varsity - Luke McCullagh (200 - Game 1), John Currie (210- Game 2) and Jim Fraczek (184-Game 3).
    JV - Kevin Haggard (154-Game 1), Brian Rieger (145-Game 2) and Zack Remmers (164-Game 3).

    Green Wave Has Another 200 Bowler!!
    Congrats to Junior, Luke McCullagh who bowled a 200 in Game 1 against Proviso East. Luke is our 5th varsity bowler to break the 200 mark. Way to go!!

    Final Regular Season Contest With Driscoll
    St. Edward Varsity faced Driscoll in their last regular season contest. The boys were defeated by only 88 pins. That is the closest they have ever come and we are very proud of their efforts. Junior, Anthony Bauer was the high scorer in all three games with a 178, 206 and 233 (also the highest score of the season). John Currie bowled a 199 in game 2 and Jim Fraczek bowled a 191 in game 3. Also, Ryan Eigenhauser bowled his highest game of the season with a 172. Kevin Haggard (174-game 1), Joe Melone (172-game 1) and Adam Gilles (160-game 2) also contributed to the much improved contest. Driscoll is only one of the teams St. Edward will face next Saturday, Jan. 19th at Sectionals. We wish them all the best!!

    Another 200-plus Bowler!
    Congrats to Junior, Kevin Haggard for bowling a 216. Kevin is the 4th Green Wave bowler this season to earn such an accomplishment. Way to go Kevin!

    "200-Club" Newest Member
    Congrats to Junior, Anthony Bauer for bowling a 204 and a 205 at the Brother Rice Final Fling on Friday. His 6-game pin total was 1,038 which placed him 56th out of over 200 bowlers. Sophomore, Joe Melone bowled a 221 in his sixth game of the tourney bringing his 6-game pin total to 1,054 pins. Joe was 52nd overall. Jim Fraczek (high score 195), Luke McCullagh (high score 165) and John Currie (high score 163) made up the rest of the St. Ed's Varsity team. They will be the starters at the Lake Park Sectionals at Brunswick Zone in Roselle on Saturday, January 19th. For more details, please check out www.ihsa.org "boys bowling".     VARSITY TOURNAMENT - THIS FRIDAY!!

    Christmas Party This Friday
    Christmas Party for Boys Bowling will be this Friday from 4:30-6p at Elgin Lanes. Pizza and pop will be served. Juniors can bring appetizers or chips and dip. Sophomores and Zack can bring something sweet. Hope to see you all there!

    JV Defeats Driscoll
    Congrats to the JV team for coming from behind to defeat Driscoll in Conference play on Thursday. High Scorers for the Wave were Ryan Hukill (game 1-116), Brian Rieger (game 2-132) and Tim Cibich (game 3-157). Zack Remmers also had a 152 in game 3.

    Varsity high scorers were . . . Mike Kondrath (game 1-188,game 3-166) and Anthony Bauer (game 2-197).

    Proviso East Game Rescheduled
    Varsity and JV will be playing Proviso East on Monday, January 7th at Elgin Lanes beginning at 4:30 p.m. This will be our first day back to bowling from Christmas break, so please try to get some practice in over break!

    Kudos to our 2nd "200-Plus" Bowler
    Congrats to Sophomore, Joe Melone for bowling a 223 against Sycamore. He is the 2nd Varsity Player to bowl over a 200. Way to go, Joe!!

    December 11th BOWLING CANCELLED
    Since school has been cancelled, there will not be bowling today. The games against Proviso East will be rescheduled for some time in January. Our next game will be Thursday, December 13th against Driscoll at Stardust Lanes in Addison. The bus will leave St. Ed's no later than 3:15 p.m. The match will begin at 4:30 p.m. Directions can be found on this website. Enjoy the day off today, stay home and be safe!

    Be Sure To Check Website for Cancellations
    St. Edward Boys Varsity & JV Green Wave is scheduled to play Proviso East tomorrow (Tuesday, December 11th) at 4:30 p.m. at Elgin Lanes. Please check the website throughout the day to make sure the games are still on. There's always a possibility of cancellation due to the weather. Also, if school is ever cancelled due to the weather, the games will not be played and there will be no practice. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact one of the coaches.     Varsity and JV Tourney This Coming Saturday!
    On this coming Saturday, December 1st Varsity and JV will be competing in a tournament at Hawthorn Lanes in Vernon Hills beginning at noon. Directions can be found by clicking "Directions" to your left. Boys need to be in uniform (bowling shirt and school pants) and meet at St. Ed's no later than 9:30 a.m. for the bus. Bowlers are not permitted to drive separately. If you have any questions, please contact one of the coaches.

    St. Edward vs. IC
    St. Edward and IC participated in their first match up of the season.
    St. Ed's Varsity won the first game, but IC won the next two. Overall, IC beat St. Ed's by only 69 pins. Green Wave high scorers were as follows: Jim Fraczek 190 (game 1) and 151 (game 3) and Joe Melone 164 (game 2).

    St. Edward JV defeated IC all three games and won overall by 153 pins. High scorers for the Green Wave were Tim Cibich 146 (game 1), Ryan Eigenhauser 134 (game 2) and Nathan Gaige 133 (game 3). Way to go, JV!

    Sycamore Defeats St. Ed's
    Sycamore defeated St. Ed's Varsity and JV teams all three games.
    Green Wave high scorers for each level were as follows . . .
    Varsity - John Currie 195 (game 1), Jim Fraczek 186 & 179 (game 2 & 3)
    JV - Luke McCullagh 175 (game 1), Brian Rieger 142 (game 2) and Ryan Hukill 130 (game 3).

    Green Wave vs. Sycamore
    The St. Edward Varsity and JV teams will battle Sycamore tomorrow (Nov. 20) at Elgin Lanes beginning at 4 p.m. Boys should be in uniform and arrive at Elgin Lanes by 3:45 p.m. Remember, no practice games before our match. We will let you know when warm ups will begin. Go Wave!!

    Survivor Tournament Summary
    Varsity Boys Anthony Bauer, Ryan Beem, John Currie, Adam Gilles, Jimmy Fraczek, Kevin Haggard and Joey Melone participated in the Survivor Tournament this past Saturday at Don Carter Lanes in Rockford. Jimmy Fraczek had the high score for the Wave with a 225. He also bowled a 203 & 210. Anthony Bauer had a good day with a 163 and 161. Ryan Beem bowled his highest game of the season so far, with a 162. John Currie bowled a 161 and 163, and Adam Gilles bowled a 165. The team average overall was a 157. The averages from the tournament are listed below. We are very proud of these boys for their sportsmanship and tournament accomplishments.

    St. Edward Green Wave boys

    Outlook: The lone area school with a boys bowling team, St. Edward anticipates an excellent season to unveil in the weeks ahead. With four bowlers above the 160 mark in average, expect Fraczek (172), Bauer (165), Currie (164) and Kondrath (160) to lead the way for the Green Wave. St. Edward opened up the season against Suburban Catholic opponent Driscoll and saw a game-high 193 from Fraczek as well as a 192 from Bauer. Overall, the Green Wave have 28 boys out for the team this year.


    Varsity Tournament This Saturday!
    Best of luck to the boys who will be competing in the "Survivor Tournament" this coming Saturday, November 17th. They are Anthony Bauer, Ryan Beem, Jim Fraczek, Adam Gilles, Mike Kondrath, John Currie, Joe Melone and Kevin Haggard. Boys need to be at St. Ed's by 11 a.m. to meet the bus. No driving separate unless arrangements have been made prior to the event. Pizza and pop will be served for coaches and bowlers at 12:30 p.m. The coaches meeting is at 1 p.m. Bowlers may begin to practice at 1:30 p.m. with the event starting at 1:45 p.m. Don Carter Lanes is located at 4007 East State St. in Rockford. Their phone is (815) 399-0314. Bowlers should wear their uniforms shirts (everyone should have one now) with their Khaki pants (no jeans!). Best of luck Varsity!

    St. Edward vs. Driscoll Results - Varsity
    Varsity Results November 13, 2007 St. Edward Varsity defeated Driscoll in their first match of the season. Driscoll won the overall contest, taking the next two games.
    High scorers for the Wave were Jim Fraczek (193 - Game 1) and Anthony Bauer (192 - Game 2, 168 - Game 3). The two teams were neck and neck until game 3. A fine start to the season boys! Keep it up!

    St. Edward vs. Driscoll Results - JV
    JV Results November 13, 2007 The score sheet for the JV match between St. Edward and Driscoll is now available for viewing. Driscoll took the first two games, but the Wave came from behind to take the third. Driscoll won the overall contest by 134 pins. High scorers for the Wave were Brian Rieger (157 - Game 2), Michael Horner (152 - Game 3) and Nathan Gaige (144 - Game 1). This is only the beginning! Way to go Wave!

    Monday, November 12th PRACTICE CANCELLED
    Boys Bowling Practice scheduled for Monday, November 12th has been CANCELLED. Enjoy the day off of school and rest up for our match on Tuesday against Driscoll. All bowlers need to be at Elgin Lanes on Tuesday by 4 p.m. Wear your St. Ed's green polo shirt with Khaki school pants. Bowling shirts will not be worn for this match.     Bowlers will bowl on Varsity and/or JV depending on their current average, high scores and ATTENDANCE. Varsity players will play JV if their scores drop and JV players will play on Varsity if their scores improve. If you cannot be at a practice or game, please contact one of the coaches prior to the event or you will be marked as unexcused. Unexcused practices = No game participation.

    Winter Sports Sign Up and Meetings
    The St. Edward High School Winter Sports Sign Up and Coaches Meetings will be next Monday, October 29th. Registration will be from 6-7 p.m. for anyone wishing to sign up for Boys/Girls Basketball, Wrestling, Cheerleading, Poms or Boys/Girls Bowling. Boys Bowling will not be meeting that night because we've already had our meeting with the boys. If a Boys Bowling parent has any questions or concerns, please feel free to call Coach Cindy at 847-930-1880 or email cgaige@wideopenwest.com. It will not be necessary for you to attend Monday's Sports registration if your bowler has turned in all the necessary forms and payment. If he has not, Monday night is the deadline to have all necessary forms and payment to the school. The necessary forms are an emergency form, physical (within the past year), transportation form and $185.00 participation fee. Please make checks payable to St. Edward High School. Thank you!

    We have added two events to our January schedule . . .
    Tuesday, Jan. 8 vs. Driscoll @ Elgin Lanes 4:30p
    Thursday, Jan. 10 vs. Driscoll (away) 4:30p

    The Christmas Party will be Friday, December 21st from 4:30-6 at Elgin Lanes. Pizza and Pop will be served followed by an exchange of White Elephant gifts.

    The Awards Night, where the boys take on a parent is scheduled for Tuesday, February 5 from 6-8 p.m. More details to follow.

    Great Turnout!
    We've had a great turnout so far for boys bowling. Twenty-eight boys are signed up (14 returning). It's not too late to sign up. If you are interested, you may pick up a bowling packet in the Athletic Office.

    Tuesday & Thursday, October 23 & 25 will be very important practices, so please plan to attend. If you have a chance this weekend, I would suggest an outing to Elgin Lanes to get warmed up. Please bring your forms and fee to Tuesday's practice. If you have any questions or concerns, please see Coach Cindy asap.

    We are happy to announce that Conor Clarke (class of 2007) will be assisting Boys and Girls bowling in a coaching capacity. Welcome back Conor!
