Report for playoff game #3 November 6, 2004 St-Lazare Stallions vs Ste-Therése Pumas |
 |
Stallions Meet Their Match |
|
The Peewee Stallions suffered their first defeat of the season at the hands of the Laurentides Pumas from Ste-Thérese on Saturday by a decisive score of 55-20. The larger, more experienced and balanced Puma squad controlled the game from beginning to end against a Stallion crew that had won 12 consecutive games in the NSFL. Their hopes of moving on to the Provincial Final were crushed by this loss yet all the players can be proud of an unprecedented season in which they dominated the local league. Down at the half by a 28-0 score, the Stallions’ rally in the second half was ignited offensively by Jesse St-James, who faked a punt and ran 52 yards for a major score with Adam Bailey adding a two-point convert on a sweep run. Later in the third quarter, St-James added a second touchdown by faking a reverse and running 87 yards for his second major of the day. In the final frame, St-James, again, faked a sweep run and threw a 32-yard pass to quarterback Kevin Shanahan to complete the scoring for the hometown team. The defence was unable to stop a well-executed Pumas offence, allowing the Laurentides squad through during most of the game. On the other hand, Mitchell Cuillerier, David Mireault and Charles-Antoine Duquette played extremely well trying to keep the score down. Although the football season is over for the Peewee Stallions, they can hold their heads high knowing that they caused quite a stir on their way to an undefeated season. They are also the first Stallion team to represent St-Lazare in regional playoffs. The experience obtained by all of the players will not be soon forgotten.

Report for playoff game #2 October 30, 2004 St-Lazare Stallions vs Alexander Park Roughriders |
 |
Stallions win NSFL championship |
|
The St-Lazare peewee Stallions overcame a 12-6 half time deficit to defeat the Alexander Park Roughriders 32-20, on Saturday. The victory was their 12th consecutive of the season, and gave this undefeated team the right to represent the NSFL in regional playoffs, which will take place this weekend.
During the half-time break, Yves Cuillerier, the offensive co-ordinator gave the entire squad a rousing half-time speech that had them pumped up and ready to play in the second half. They came up with a converted major, early in the third quarter, to take a lead and never looked back. Adam Bailey had a career day scoring all four offensive touchdowns behind the solid blocking of the entire offence. Bailey ran for 148 yds on 13 carries and also caught a 52 yd pass to reach the 200 yd. mark, for the day.
The Roughrider defence was unable to contain the repeated attacks by the Stallions in the second half.
Defensive co-ordinator Cliff Wilson made minor adjustments to the defence, in the second half, but that was all that was needed as they held Alexander Park to one additional touchdown, late in the fourth quarter. For the second time this year, Jean-Francois Brault-Dubois ran back a punt return for a major score. This play, early in the third quarter, sealed the victory for the Stallions. Justin Carzoli and Jeremy McNeil shared 10 tackles while Antoine Chasse and Mitchell Cuillerier played solid defence throughout the game.
League executives Joe Berghello and Allan Dobby were on hand to award the Bob Lunny trophy to the team captains who held it high among their excited team-mates.

Report for playoff game #1 October 24, 2004 St-Lazare Stallions vs À-Ma-Baie Alouettes |
 |
Stallions win playoff game to move into the NSFL finals |
|
The St-Lazare Peewee Stallions defeated A Ma Baie 22-0, on Sunday, in their semi-final match as both defensive and offensive units played well. The Stallions maintained an unblemished record winning their 11th consecutive game.
The offence was led by Jesse St-James who carried for 117 yards, on 7 carries, and all three touchdowns. A Ma Baie held the Stallion team to 8 points in the first quarter but were unable to contain the strong running game as the Stallions led by 22 points at the end of the third. The entire offensive line excelled by continually holding off the determined A Ma Baie defence.
The A Ma Baie Alouettes played tenaciously yet the defence continually held them back from scoring any points throughout the game. Led by linebacker Mitchell Cuillerier, the defensive squad gave up only six first downs throughout the entire game. Charles Antoine Duquette, Jeremy McNeil, Cuillerier and Jean-François Brault Dubois combined for 13 tackles keeping A Ma Baie off the scoreboard.

Report for regular season game #10 October 17, 2004 St-Lazare Stallions vs Alexander Park Roughriders |
Stallions end season with 10-th win |
|
Jesse St-James and Adam Bailey combined for five touchdowns to lead the St-Lazare Peewee Stallions to their 10th straight victory and an undefeated season. Beating the Alexander Park Roughriders 44-28 on Sunday, the Stallions controlled the game from start to finish taking a 22-0 lead into the half.
In the first offensive series, St-James dove through the D-Line, untouched, and ran 43 yards for his first major of the day.
The defence held the Roughriders on their first drive and they were forced to punt on fourth down. This resulted in a 52 yd punt return, for a touchdown, by safety Maxx St-James, for his second touchdown of the year. Adam Bailey completed the first half scoring with a 38 yd sweep to give the Stallions a commanding half -time lead.
The defence held the Roughriders scoreless, in the first half, due to excellent work by linebackers Mitchell Cuillerier, Jeremy McNeil and lineman Alexandre Riel-Landry.
In the second half St-James continued the scoring with another long sweep. Adam Bailey, with his 12-th touchdown of the year and St-James with his 19-th, completed the scoring for the Stallions. The Stallion running backs carried the ball for over 300 yards during the game.
Dali Poirier converted four of the six touchdowns to add an extra 8 points.

|
The undefeated Stallions, who improved their record to 8-0, beat the Westpark Packers 34-12 on Saturday.

The Stallion offence was led by running back Jesse St-James, whose 2 touchdowns brought his league-leading total to 15. Adam Bailey and Kevin Shanahan added majors for the victors with Dali Poirier converting 2 of the five touchdowns for 4 points.

Stallions gallop to sixth straight victory
|
|
The St-Lazare Peewee Stallions won their sixth straight victory on Saturday defeating the Lakeshore Cougars 45-0. The win gave the Stallions a firm hold on first place in the NSFL with 4 games to go in the regular season.
Defensive co-ordinator Cliff Wilson was ecstatic to see his crew come up with their first shutout of the year. In addition, the Stallions defence held the Cougar offence to only six first downs for the entire game. The Cougars, a traditional powerhouse in the NSFL, were unable to ignite a charge against the well-prepared Stallion defence. Leading the defensive squad was middle linebacker Jeremy McNeil supported by Cole Langendorf and Robert Grogan in the secondary.
The offence was led by Adam Bailey's four touchdowns giving him 10 for the year. Danny Allaire and Jesse St-James contributed additional majors. Dali Poirier converted 5 of the 6 touchdowns for a total of 9 points to round out the scoring. Aaron Blumenthal and Marc-Etienne Sarrazin also pulled in several passes for significant yardage during the game.

Report for regular season game #4 September 4, 2004 St-Lazare Stallions vs Île Bizard Vikings |
Fourth victory in a row |
|
The St-Lazare Peewee Stallions recorded their fourth straight victory, on Saturday, beating the previously undefeated Ile Bizard Vikings by a 32-6 score. The Stallions are now alone, at the top of the NSFL Peewee standings, with a 4-0 record.
Played in Ile Bizard, the visitors scored first, on a 62-yd. run, by halfback Adam Bailey. Minutes later, the Ile Bizard offence was threatening when Jean-Francois Brault-Dubois picked off a Viking pass and ran it back 71 yards for their second major.
In the second quarter, Adam Bailey scored again followed by a 68-yd sweep by fullback Jesse St-James for a major score.
In the second half, Jean-Francois once again picked off a pass for a defensive touchdown and put the game on ice for the maroon and silver visitors.
Coach Cliff Wilson was particularly pleased with the defensive effort displayed by Mitchell Cuillerier, Alexis Sabourin and Charles-Antoine Duquette. Offensive co-ordinator Yves Cuillerier was very satisfied that the Stallion passing game, led by QB Kevin Shanahan, is starting to come around and that he is being given time to set up because of the blocking performed by guards Patrick Newberry and Etienne Chassé.

Report for regular season game #3 August 28, 2004 St-Lazare Stallions vs À-Ma-Baie Alouettes |
Come from behind victory |
|
In a decisive victory, against another unbeaten team, the St-Lazare Peewee Stallions came away with their third straight victory against A Ma Baie with a 32-12 score. It was a one point game at the half, 13-12, but the better conditioned Stallions pulled away, early in the third quarter, with two key touchdowns.
Defensively, the Stallion squad was solid throughout the game limiting the A Ma Baie team to 6 first downs. The defensive line was particularly effective shutting down the inside running game. Charles Antoine Duquette led his group with several key tackles. Olivier Laberge Allard and Dali Poirier also contributed with key stops at the right time. An interception, late in the game, by Jeremy McNeil stopped any threat of the home team rebounding.
On the offence, two touchdowns each by Adam Bailey and Jesse St-James and one by Danny Allaire put up enough points to declare a clear victory. Adam Bailey also converted two of the touchdowns for single points.
|
| Report by David St-James |
|
The peewee Stallions were in Pierrefonds to meet the undefeated A-Ma-Baie Alouettes team. The coaches had worked hard with the players during practices the week before to prepare them for this tough opponent.
The many spectators who came to watch the game on a hot a humid morning were treated to what looked like two different games: the first half was a tight, defensive battle that went back and forth; the second half was a wide open demonstration of offensive skills and scoring.
The Stallions offence looked very good on their first possession. After starting on their own 44-yard line, they got first down runs from #43 and #35 and moved the ball to the A-Ma-Baie 22, but on the next play, the ball was fumbled on the snap and the Alouettes took over.
This is where the Stallions defence showed its strength. After gaining 31 yards on seven plays, A-Ma-Baie was stopped five yards short of a first down and they were forced to punt the ball.
For the rest of the first half Stallions offence was hobbled by turnovers, including two intercepted passes. On the other hand, A-Ma-Baie’s offence, relying on the running abilities of their #28, who gained 55 yards on two rushes, scored the only TD of the first half to give the host team a 6:0 lead.
Things changed completely in the second half. A-Ma-Baie was forced to punt on their first possession after their quarterback was sacked by Stallions #46 and they were faced with a fourth down and 12 yards to go. When the Stallions got the ball back it took them just one play to score their first TD. On the first down play, the quarterback handed the ball to #43 on the A-Ma-Baie 40-yard line. After starting to run on the left side and seeing a swarm of A-Ma-Baie defenders, #43 reversed direction and sprinted along the right side all the way into the end zone. The convert was blocked and the teams were tied 6:6.
From then on the Stallions offence scored every time they got the ball. #43 ended up scoring two TDs, the same as #35 while #44 scored one TD. The last two players also scored one point TD converts.
The defense allowed A-Ma-Baie only one more TD and the final score was 32:12 for St-Lazare. #43 had accumulated 95 yards of total rushing on 14 carries while #35 had 175 yards on 7 carries. On defence, #90 intercepted a pass and made several tackles. Other standouts on defense were #30, 31, 45, 46, 52 and 73. #25 carried the ball well on kickoff and punt returns.
After being beaten by A-Ma-Baie in previous seasons the Stallions left no doubt in anyone’s mind that they are a strong team, ready for any opponent.

Report for regular season game #2 August 22, 2004 St-Lazare Stallions vs Westpark |

Touchdowns were scored by Danny Allaire, Adam Bailey and Jesse St-James. Dali Poirier converted 2 of the 3 touchdowns, for 2 points each, which proved to be the margin of victory.
The defence was plagued by several injuries during the day yet were able to hold off the Packers on a regular basis. Interceptions by Jeremy McNeil and Maxx St-James helped to stop several drives in their infancy.

Report for regular season game #1 August 14, 2004 St-Lazare Stallions vs Alexander Park Roughriders |
A good start to the season
|
|
The Peewee Stallions started their 2004 season, on the right foot, by drubbing the Alexander Park team by a 44-6 score. Both the defence and offence played excellently by scoring 6 touchdowns and holding their opponents to only one.
Adam Bailey scored one touchdown on a 68-yard end-around and Kevin Shanahan threw his first touchdown pass of the year into the waiting arms of Danny Allaire. Jesse St-James scored the other four touchdowns including 2 runs of over 50 yards. This open field running was made possible because of the terrific blocking done by the O-line, on a constant basis. Dali Poirier converted 4 of the 6 touchdowns to record 8 points.
The defence played solidly and was led by Jeremy McNeil who had three interceptions stopping most of the Alexander Park drives before they could get started. Excellent tackles were made by Alexander Riel Landry and David Mireault. Head coach David St-James was very pleased with the fact that all Peewee Stallions saw some game time.
