This team was the first team to come into existence in Hurricane, WV. Founded by Josh Smith (who'd be later known as Dr. Funky Green) and two neighborhood friends: Jennifer Elkins & Katherine "Fashionably Late" Held. This team has always been the one to get it together and use strategy to defeat opponents rather than luck. Lots of lineup changes since the beginning on that hot summer August, 2003 afternoon. Jennifer Elkins hasn't picked up a bat since 2003 and Fashionably Late is just absent. In spring training 2003 they were joined by Josh's best friend Greg Sowards (who'd be later known as "Chestar"). Chestar had natural talent and has been an asset to the team and the league ever since. Also during this first spring training Justing "Big J" Bailey was signed, but after only one career game to his name, he quit the sport and his contract was terminated thereafter. For much of 2003 through 2004 it was just Josh Smith, Greg Sowards & occasionally Fashionably Late Held playing as the Green Bears. But Greg "The Polish Wonder" Szepelak (who'd been on the Kung-Fu Pandas team) was signed and he brought his big stick to the lineup. Soon The Polish Wonder would start his own team however. Then things changed in spring training 2005 on April 23rd, 2005 the Green Bears signed 3 new players: Alex Pauley (close friend of Josh's; lanky but not speedy, slaphitter, alright defensively), Tyler Call (power hitter! fast pitcher, can be used in rotation), and Chase Woodard (consistent hitter with descent defensive capabilities). Less than a week after, they signed Andrew Hankins to the team. The team was now stacked. The league had never seen such an impressive lineup. During the beginning of the 2005 season all 6 of them would show up as well, which is a rarity on any team. But attendence fell as it usually does. All 6 have not been together since late June, 2005. But the legacy of the Green Bears is and will always be a legendary one. Always look for huge things to come out of this team (likewise with any team).
