The High School Football team lost to Polk High yesterday here at Thomas Jefferson. With the score 14-8 in the middle of the 3rd quarter the Gryphons had the ball 1st and 10 on the Polk 19 yard line and seemed in position to take the lead. That is when the wheels came off. Polk had a tremedous rush and the ball came out. A Polk defender was there and picked up the ball and raced toward the endzone. Matt Kelly had a truly Gryphon Like effort and chased him down causing him to fumble but the breaks did not go for the Gryphons on Thursday and another Polk player fell on the ball for a touchdown. Matt Kelly had a touchdown pass to Jonathan Bass and also recovered a fumble and added an interception. Tyler McEntire was on the receiveing end of the pass for a 2 point conversation and also had an interception on the day, while leading the team in rushing. Trent Newton caused and recovered a fumble and Cody Queen again was the leading tackler on the team while having a great day at Gryphon Back.
The Football team wants to thank all of the fans for again packing our stadium. We are truly honored.
