Aston Valley 12s Take District 9 Title
Congratulations to our 12 year old tournament team! They clinched the District 9 Championship this morning at 9:00 after taking the long way to the title. AV started with a loss to BYC in a game that was clearly intended to get the cob webs off the bats. AV went on to beat Unionville, Chichester, Nether Providence to get into the championship game. AV had to beat BYC twice to claim the championship. The first game was a close win by one run in an 8-7 game but forced BYC into the "if" game. AV came out hitting and went up 7-0 on Wednesday when mother nature threw a curveball and stopped the game in the bottom of the 5th. AV came back at 9:00AM on Thursday and added one more run to go into the top of 6. AV pitching held BYC off and the game ended with an Aston Valley win 8-0.
The team held an impromptu parade to Weir Park to deposit the 2014 District 9 trophy at the snack stand.
Our 12s move onto the state tournament in Upper Makefield on July 11! Good luck team!!!
