Auburn athletes excel at national track showcase

Auburn Elite Track Club's Maya Jackson, Alexis Rogers and Jordan Wallace competed in the USATF National Junior Olympic Championships at Houston, Texas, on July 21-27.

Jackson finished 39th in the 100 meters with a time of 12.65 seconds and 27th in the 200 with a personal-record 25.30. She finished 19th in the 400-meter preliminaries with a time of 57.78, which qualified for her for the semifinals. She finished with a 24th overall ranking.

Rogers finished 42nd in the 200 (26.67) and 42nd in the 400 (61.28).

Wallace finished ranked 33rd in the 100 with a time of 11.45 and 38th in the 200 (23.10).

The Auburn trio and triple jumper Solie Grantham qualified for the nationals in the 15-16 age group, representing Pacific Northwest Region 13.

At the nationals, competitors marched in an athlete parade and had a chance to meet Olympians, such as Sanya Richards-Ross and Carl Lewis. Athletes qualified for the nationals with top finishes in a local meet at Kent's French Field and a regional championship in Spokane.

Coach Kevin Jackson and assistant Darius Jackson guide the club. Jackson, a USA Track and Field certified coach, founded the organization last year.
