2009 Power Rankings (Davis)
2009 Power Rankings (DAVIS)
1) San Diego Padres(10-5)
Team captain Davis Pierce has a lot to prove this year by showing his rival team the Tigers that he is no joke. After losing back to back times in the championship the Padres make it a priority to knock off the defending champs. With Cayden ‘s optimism for another good season on the bump his 2009 season at the plate looks to be unmatched. Bens career year brings hope to the following season as he will provide for this team once again. Although the rookie Pat Trainor wasn’t in attendance as much as the Padres would have liked last year his few numbers show that he is an all around player. He can pitch when they need him and can supply hits when its crunch time. The Padres are looking for #2…….hehe#2
2) Detroit Tigers
Tony’s tigers have shown that they are the better team in the AWL for two years straight. However their regular season records never match up to their undoubtedly supreme post season play. The tigers have their two pitching aces Tony and Keith who look to have another promising year. Tony has to supply more at the plate if this team wants to win three straight. The most pronounced player in the AWL looks to demonstrate why he is the best whether its on the bump or in the box. Robidoux has established himself on this team as a lethal threat to the Tiger’s lineup. His Defense is solid which is also backed up by the 1 year veteran Sean O’Connor. 1 time allstar AJ lindstrom will use his speed and his keen eye at the plate to create much needed base runners for the Tigers.
3) Oakland Athletics
With Jimbo making the only offseason move he obtained the unscouted Jon Gasparoni. With this bold maneuver the A’s plan to increase their RBI’s and hopefully increase their “W’s”. One this is certain is that Tom Sarkisian has been improving more every year. If predictions are correct Tom could have a career year at the plate. The pickup of Eric norman will definitely play in their favor. He is a devoted and solid player when it comes to wiffleball. The infamous Kyle Cross is always one to hit the long ball. However his pitching needs to improve this year to give the A’s a solid 2nd pitcher. Tempers in the dugout need to remain low meaning that the Sarkisian brothers need to quit their bitching. Even if they don’t know it this can hurt the team.
4) Washington Nationals
Last but not least! Im not counting out the Nats for a title or quite possibly a title appearance this year, yet it will be very difficult for a team with such a strong pitcher such as Greg Sullivan to not pitch. Tylers freeze ball can’t work every game, though that’s what he hopes. Their all team effort at the plate in indisputably the most solid batting lineup in the league but what does that mean when there is no pitching. Connor Rogan may just be the star that this team needs to win a championship. His swagger at the plate has come in many times when they so sorely needed it. Tyler’s speed forces er’s and can really mess with a team’s defense. Nick has shown that he can hit but he also shows inconsistency. Corey Brooks who can be a great asset to any team needs to show up to games and hit the ball like he knows how.
