With 2009 ringing in the New Year it is all about 2010 for current high school baseball players in their junior year. For those schools lucky to advance into the state finals it will provide an opportunity for them to get exposure to a few colleges that are no longer involved in NCAA regional play. Even then only a handful of colleges will have to pick a site to watch a few teams compete. College coaches now more than ever rely on camps, showcases and summer showcase tournaments to bring hundreds to thousands of players to one spot to recruit. There is simply not enough time in a college coaches schedule to recruit in season thus making an elite travel organization like Baseball U a college coaches dream gathering the tri state areas top players to showcase in front of them.
Baseball U has helped provide added exposure for 78 juniors over the past three years. 60 of them have received baseball scholarships and 8 more are playing on non scholarship. Starting this January at the winter workouts college coaches while working with the members of the Baseball U workouts will add to their recruiting list for 2010 with many of the players. Immediately following a players high school season Baseball U will provide various instructional and showcase tournaments as well as a private showcase to help all the players achieve their goal of receiving a college scholarship.
Many 2010 players have already been contacted by top colleges from around the country including three pitchers that have already hit 90mph. Some schools that have contacted these players include Clemson, Virginia, Michigan, Arizona, Villanova, Rutgers, Baylor and many more after their dominating performance at the WWBA Underclass World Championships in Fort Myers, Florida this past October.
One player that did not attend the October tournament is six foot five right handed pitcher Colin Briant. Colin along with the other three pitchers are very high academic students. Working hard has never been a problem for Colin and this year it will all pay off while competing at some of the top national events.
Any players that feel they have a need to gain extra exposure to earn a scholarship while competing against the top national players nationwide should fill out a prospective player form on the website. The team is currently excepting players with graduation years of 2009-2013.
