Baseball U Off to 3-0 Start at UVA Invitational
Baseball U is off to a 3-0 start on their 11 day road trip. The road trip will bring the players exposure to some of the top colleges in the country.
Again the pitching has been excellent over the first three games while giving up only 3 runs while scoring 15. The opening game had "The U" play against the NJ Twins American team. Brian Gilbert went 3 strong innings while his fastball topped out at 89mph. Mike Bradshaw then pitched the final three and he too was consistently 87-89 while topping out at 90mph. Lou Clemente had a 3 rbi double to pace the way for Baseball U.
On Saturday the team won two games and started the day off by a strong pitching performance from Tyler Vail. Tyler was 88-92mph and did not allow a hit. Patrick Egan closed out the final three innings of scoreless ball against the NJ Twins National and help defeat them by a score of 3-0.
The final game on Saturday was against the North Virginia Travel Baseball Stars. Lou Clemente was the star of the game hitting a leadoff home run estimated at 390 feet with the wood bat. He again hit a home run off the right field scoreboard in the seventh. Colin Briant pitched 4 strong innings and Ben Musicant closed the game only surrendering 1 run over 3 innings.
