Bayonne Recreation to Offer

Swimming Lessons to Local Youth

Mayor Mark A. Smith has announced the Bayonne Recreation Division will offer swimming lessons for local youth, ages 4 to 14. The program will also include education in water safety, as well as swim technique. The lessons will be available this summer at the DiDomenico Municipal Pool at 16th Street Park.

Mayor Smith said, “I would like to urge local children to take advantage of this program in the summer.  It will provide young residents the opportunity to learn to swim, which is a great skill to have.”

Lessons will begin on Sunday, June 29 and will run through Wednesday, August 6.

Each lesson will last for 40 minutes, once a week, for six (6) weeks.

Lessons will take place on Sundays from 9:30am to 10:15am or 10:30am to 11:15am; Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 5:30pm to 6:15pm or 6:30pm to 7:15pm.

Students will have the option of selecting one of the three days offered.

Four (4) lifeguards will be assigned for each lesson.  There will be a 1 to 8 ratio of instructors to students.

The cost of the six-week program is $110.00 per student.

Registration forms are available in the Division of Recreation, which is located in Room 13 at City Hall.

The children must be Bayonne residents to take the lessons at the DiDomenico Municipal Pool.
