Division of Recreation Buddy Baseball is back! 2018 Registration has begun!

Registration for the baseball program for mentally and physically challenged residents ages 4 to 21 is currently open, with opening day set for Saturday, May 5, 2018.

As part of the program, "buddies" will assist players according to their needs. This may include helping a player bat or field the ball, pushing a player in a wheelchair around the bases or simply motivating.

More than the skills of baseball are learned through the program. The league also provides the therapeutic and socialization benefits of participating in sports, the strengthening of participants' self-esteem, as well as the disciplines of teamwork, sportsmanship and fair play.

Games will take place in May and June at the 11th Street Oval. Every player will receive a full baseball uniform, including jersey, pants, socks and a hat. The Division of Recreation will supply all of the equipment.

Teams will be broken into to 10 to 12 players and every player will have the opportunity to bat and play the field.

There is no cost to participate in the Buddy Baseball League. The deadline for Registration is Friday, March 23rd. You may register in the Division of Recreation, located in City Hall Room #13, Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm.
