Walcott Signs With Pirates In MLB Draft
Damian Walcott a sophomore outfielder from Freehold New Jersey and the Blues starting center fielder for the past two seasons was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 37th Round of the 2006 MLB Draft.
Walcott who came to Brookdale after rushing for back to back 1500 yard seasons in football was a big asset to the team. Walcott hit the game winning home run in Millington, Tn. against St Louis-Forest Park in this years Junior College World Series to lift the Blues to the Semi-Final elimination game. If Walcott was to sign according to John Wells, a Brookdale assistant coach and Pittsburgh Pirates Associate Scout, he would report to Bradenton, Fl.
