Tough loss to one of leagues best
The St Catherines Metros beat the Burlington Brants 5-3 Sunday in a 7 inning contest in the Garden City. Once again, a lack of bat power sunk the Brants as they managed just 3 hits, although a 6th inning 2 run homer by RF Roger Lambert, his 5th this season, pulled the Blue and Orange within a run. Lambert also had an RBI sac fly in 1st inning to stake Burlington to an early lead. 2B Brandon Fischer and C Damian Ramirez had the other hits. Trevor Woodjets went the distance, gave up 4 earned runs on 6 hits, struck out 5 and walked 1.
Brants go to Erindale Monday and their last home game is Wednesday vs The Metros, 7:30pm at Nelson Park. Playoffs start this week and, if they end up 9th overall, (current record 9-21) , they’ll meet the 6th place finisher, Thursday, 7:45pm in Dundas. An 8th place spot would result in their first playoff game Friday night in Dundas at 7:45pm vs the 7th place team.
