Thunder Takes Two From Turlock 49ers
Atwater - The Varsity Thunder exploded out the gate and showcased a dominating ground game while flexing its defensive muscle in a 12-0 win over the Turlock 49ers (1-1). Kevin Kelleher led the Thunder (2-0) with 169 yards on 13 carries and a TD while Quintin Levesque added 130 yards and a TD on 10 carries. The Thunder defense allowed just 84 total yards with a majority coming on a late drive. Adrian Hernandez thwarted the drive with an interception at the Thunder 10-yard line. "This was a great effort by the boys," said Coach Keith Ducey. "Our ground game was impressive while our defense was stout."

The JV Thunder continued its dominant ways with an astounding 30-0 win over the NFC contender 49ers. Aundre Sherman added a long TD run and Dakota Draper caught a TD pass from Ryan Garrett. The Thunder (2-0) defense smothered the 49ers (1-1) as they failed to get anything going offensively.

The Thunder Peewees dropped a closed game to the 49ers as Turlock scored with 2 mins. remaining in the game and held on to win 6-0.

The Thunder Rookies looked great as they moved the ball at will and hit pay dirt on several occasions while playing impressive on defense.
