Former Griffin Mates Go For 30 a Piece
Game: 44
The first half of this contest was a back and forth affair and had the underdog Run-N-Gun squad primed to complete the first round upset heading into a first half 30-30 tie. In the absence of All-Star Ryan Reed, Sean Wragg stepped up his game showing why he was a feared opponent back when he anchored the NAIT national championship team’s defensive attack. With Kuperus having a rare off night which still saw him pour in 16, Wragg filled the void with 30 points, 11 rebounds and 3 blocks. On the other side of the ball, Wragg’s former MacEwan team mate Nathan Deklerk was equally as impressive with 30 of his own in his usual deceptive fashion. Though Deklerk and Wragg played to an even contest, the secondary scorers of the Niners SL proved to be the difference as Darren Graham finished with 20 points and 14 rebounds to come away with an 81-65 win to advance to the next round.
