Baseball Heaven Pre-Bash Recap
The Cardinals opened the 2009 season with the pre-bash tournament at Baseball Heaven. The cardinals drew a tough pool with the LI Inferno and the Dix Hills Dodgers. Opening game the Cardinals took on the tough LI Inferno. This proved to be a pitchers duel. The Cardinals Started Tyler P. who has had a good winter in perfecting and smoothing out the edges of his delivery. Tyler went the first 3 innings giving up 1 hit and 0 runs. The Cardinals then handed the ball to the newest Cardinal Nick V. He proved to be a great addition to the staff and will help the cards this year in reaching the teams goal.He allowed 0 hits and 0 runs. The Cards were able to scratch 2 runs across which proved to be the winning score. The cardinals then took on the New England Firebirds from Massachusetts. The Cardinals broke out the sticks and pounded out 12 hits which helped the Cardinals to a 13-0 win.

The Cardinals then took on the Dix Hills Dodgers on Sunday Morning. The Dix Hills team proved to be a very well schooled team that could hit and play defense with the best of them. The Cardinals got great pitching from Michael Baldwin who kept the Dodgers off balance. The Cardinals were paced by some clutch hitting by Jack F.,Matthew B., and Tyler P. The boys played well in a very tough schedule that had the boys in bed late and up very early. The Cardinals got enough good pitching and some timely hitting to get the 8-5 victory. With this win the Cardinals were seeded #2 in the tournament and were now going to the Semi-finals. In there way was the Taconic Raptors who were the 2nd ranked AAU team in New York and were coming off a exciting game to get then into the Semis. The Cardinals and Taconic team went hit for hit and pitch for pitch and when the smoke cleared the raptors were able to get the victory...

The coaching staff wants to let the boys know that we are extremely proud of them and there effort.. We look forward to being in every game and having a great time on the way!!!
