CARDINALS HARPOON SHARKS
The Cardinals took on the Baymen Sharks in a Sunday doubleheader at the PAL complex. The Cardinals had Nick V. on the hill in the first game and he was outstanding going the distance allowing 4 hits walking 1 and striking out 4. The Cardinals were able to score in each of the first 5 innings giving them a 7-0 lead. This was aided by the Sharks inability to throw strikes and letting up an astonishing 14 walks. Offensively the Cards were led by Jack F.,Joey H., and Joe M. The Cardinals played great defense behind Nick in turning a couple of double plays that squashed any threat the Sharks might of had. The Cardinals went on to an easy 7-3 win. In the 2nd game the Cardinals called on Tyler P. who was just as outstanding bringing a no hitter into the 5th inning. Tyler let up 2 hits, walked 1 while striking out 4 Sharks. The Sharks countered with their best pitcher who kept the Cards off the board until the 5th inning when the Cardinals scored 5 runs. After a single by Dan D. and a walk to Steven S., Connor P.came up with the winning basehit stroking a single down the first base line scoring Dan. The Cardinals added 4 more runs from singles from Anthony S.,Jack F and a run scoring double by Nick V. to cap the scoring. With the Cardinals leading 5-0 Steven S. was called on in relief of Tyler. Steven only needed 4 pitches to dispose of the Sharks giving the Cardinals a clean sweep. Devensively the Cards only allowed 6 hits through both games and a meager 3 runs that gave them the sweep of the doubleheader.
