CARDINALS CATCH THE SHARKS
The Cardinals traveled to Smithtown to take on the LI Sharks at Flynn Field. Steven S. took the mound and did a great job going 3 innings allowing 3 runs on 3 hits while striking out 3. Steven is starting to get back to his 2008 form where he was a big winner for the Cardinals. The Sharks countered with their ace lefty. In the first inning the Sharks were able to jump out to a 3-1 lead with some solid hits. The Cardinals found themselves in a hole and knew they had to answer the Sharks. The Cards were able to score 6 runs over the next 5 innings giving them the 3 run lead. Offensively the Cardinals were lead by Jake S.(2 Hits), Matthew B.(2 Hits), Nick V.(2 Hits), Joe M.(2 hits), Tyler P. and BillyBob. The Cardinals then focused on defense and the Sharks mounted several threats that made the score 6-5. Anthony S. came on in relief of Steven and continued his excellent work on the mound. Anthony(aka Albert) held the Sharks to 2 hits and 2 runs with 4 k's to give the Cardinals the win. The Cardinals continue to get better with the gloves and are playing smart heads up ball.
