Colts calmed the Havoc 18-14

May 18, 2014

The Charlotte Colts went to Myrtle Beach and left with a 18-14 win over the Palmetto Havoc from the Gridiron Development Football League (GDFL). The Colts scored on the opening drive with a 25 yard touchdown run from Mark Dixon, one of his two scores. Dixon finished the night with 9 rushes for 103 yards. The Havoc tied the game behind the arm of former Penn State QB Daryll Clark.

The second score came in the 3rd quarter where safety Lamar Boyd picked off Clark's pass in the end zone and returned it 103 yards for a touchdown. The next series LB Raphael King made a couple of big hits to stop the Havoc drive. Then LB Desmond Gray blocked a Havoc punt and returned it to the Havoc 9 yard line. On the very next play, Dixon scored his second touchdown of the night. QB Darius Thomas also had an interception in the game. "I was very pleased with the offensive line tonight. They kept grinding it out." said Colts head coach Shawn Wood. The Colts will be playing in the CCFL Jamboree in Kannapolis on Saturday May 31st.
