Colts tamed the Thundering Herd 41-2

September 6, 2014

The Colts came running, and passing on all cylinders Saturday night when they destroyed the Carolina Thundering Herd 41-6 at the Mecklenburg County Sportsplex in Matthews. Quarterback Darius Thomas was 12-18, 304 yards and two touchdowns and he had a rushing touchdown in the opening drive for 21 yards. He connected with wide receivers Al Bryant for 27 yards and Kelvin Robinson for 38 yards. Running Back Davon Gardner rushed for 74 yards on eight rushes, including a 34 yard touchdown run.

The defense were stingy where they gave up no points. They were led by linebacker Daryl Grier and Chris McNair. Grier had an interception and returned it 25 yards for a touchdown. NG Jerobi Gray forced a fumble where the Colts had the short field and capitalize it with a TD pass to Bryant. At the closing of the first half, Antonio Mayes returned a punt for 40 yards for a touchdown. Cornerback Raquan Wooden also had an interception. The Colts will host the defending league champions Catawba Hornets at The Stable on September 13th.
