DETROIT -- Detroit Moose players and family members will help the homeless Oct. 20 at Holy Trinity Church in Detroit.

Last year the team volunteered at the soup kitchen, located at Trumbell and Martin Luther King Blvd, and helped serve about 200 needy people. The team also raised a few hundred dollars and gave a donation to the church.

This year, the Moose is also holding a coat drive and will deliver the coats to needy people at the charity event. Moose players and family members will volunteer at the church from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Moose player/doctor Zach Lewis helped organize the event along with Captain Derek Fowler.

The Moose team also wants to thank its sponsors for providing assistance: Custom Car Works, Double H Manufacturing, Harlow Tire, and a group that supports the friends and families of victims of 9/11. Each Moose player will wear their team jersey with patches identifying the sponsors.
