Dofasco Minor Hockey Volunteer Policy


In the interest of due diligence and risk management, Dofasco Minor Hockey will adhere to the following policy. This policy is in compliance with the guidelines established by the Alliance as well as required by their insurance carrier.


All Coaches, Assistants and Trainers

Must be listed on the team roster.
Must have current coaching or training card that has been registered with the league.
Must have attended a Speak out clinic or completed the Respect in Sports online course, and validation must be registered with the league.
Must have a current, valid police check that has been registered by the league by December 1st of each season.

Occasional Volunteers(not on the roster)

Must be a registered Dofasco Minor Hockey registered player.
Must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
Volunteers may only participate on ice in the Novice, Atom and Peewee divisions, not permitted on ice in Bantam or Midget divisions.
Occasional Volunteers over the age of 16 will require a current, valid police check.
A coach using volunteers that do not meet the criteria listed above will receive a 3 game suspension for the first offence. Should a subsequent offence occur, indefinite suspension and review by the disciplinary committee prior to returning.
