The purpose of the Danbury Youth Umpires is to provide a service to B and C level games for Danbury Youth Baseball and act as a training ground for up and coming umpires to support baseball in our community. It provides the opportunity to learn responsibility, team work and for many their first work experience.
· Youth umpires must be 13 years of age or older.
· Youth umpires must be actively playing for a DYB sponsored Babe Ruth level team (BRN, BRA, SBR).
· Number of games a youth umpire receives is based on your availability, ability to handle situations, and your desire to umpire.
· B league games have 2 umpires. The plate umpire receives $xx(tbd) per game the base umpire receives $xx(tbd).
· C league games have 1 umpire who mans the pitching machine and receives $xx(tbd) per game.
· B League assignments, especially behind the plate are assigned to the more experienced youth umpires first.
· B league base umpires and C league games are the training ground for newer youth umpires.
· Youth umpires are paid every 2 to 3 weeks depending on the number of games played during that time frame.
· Initial instruction is provided through clinics and feedback is provided throughout the season when possible.
· Should a youth umpire run into any issues they will contact the Board Member on duty that day and/or contact Deanna Flynn.
