Football: Asante resigns at L.A. Jordan

December 17, 2009 | 3:14 pm

Elijah Asante, who helped guide the Los Angeles Jordan football program to prominence in the City Section these last five seasons as head coach, has resigned to pursue other coaching opportunities.

"It's just time," Asante said.

Asante sent players to USC and Nebraska, among other schools, during his tenure and put together one of the most innovative offensive schemes.

Under his leadership, Jordan decided to play some of the toughest teams in the Southern Section, such as Mater Dei and St. Bonaventure, in nonleague games.

His teams won three Eastern League championships and made the City Section playoffs each season.
