BALDWIN PARK, Calif. (KTLA) — An East L.A. football team wants to return to the field as soon as possible, but they’re facing some tough opposition. The East L.A. Bobcats were booted after they were linked to a fatal gang stabbing, but they say they had nothing to do with it. In October 2012, the team was celebrating at Shakey’s Pizza in Monterey Park when a gang fight broke out and a man was stabbed to death. Parents say the murder somehow got tied to the team, and the county has revoked their permit to play at Salazar Park. The team board members have been fighting to get reinstated. They have been told if they shell out $772 a day for a deputy presence at the park, they will receive their permit. The team does not have that money, and met with deputies on Monday night to discuss other options. L.A. County Supervisor Gloria Molina is a strong proponent of revoking the team’s permit to play or practice in Los Angeles County. Our calls to her office and request for comment went unturned.  by Doug Kolk KTLA Reporter
