A look at City Section league races.....through April 10th..

With one month to go in the baseball regular season, the favorites are emerging in City Section league races, but there's lots of opportunities for changes.

It's clear that Chatsworth (17-1, 4-0) remains the favorite to win the West Valley League and City Division I title, but the Chancellors face two tough games next week from Reseda Cleveland (13-3, 4-0), and I still think that El Camino Real (12-4, 2-2) and its improving pitching staff is going to be heard from either in league play or at Dodger Stadium on May 30.

The most competitive league is the Eastern, where preseason favorite Roosevelt (16-4, 4-4) lost four consecutive games and trails Bell (9-5, 6-2) and Garfield (8-7, 5-3), with South East (7-7, 4-4) and South Gate (4-10, 4-4) also in contention.

In the Marine League, Narbonne (11-6, 4-0) is battling San Pedro (13-5, 3-1) and Carson (8-8, 3-1). Banning is a surprising 0-4. In the Coliseum League, Fremont (14-3, 9-1) and Crenshaw (12-5, 7-1) are the top two teams.

In the Western League, Palisades (9-7-1, 8-0) is cruising. In the East Valley, Verdugo Hills (13-3, 8-0) is in control, with Poly (11-8, 6-2) and Arleta (11-6, 6-2) competing for second place. In the Valley Mission, San Fernando (10-7, 4-0) holds a slight advantage over Sylmar (8-7, 3-0), with Kennedy (5-11, 2-2) trying to come back from a slow start.

In the Northern, Eagle Rock (6-6, 4-0) leads Wilson (7-2, 3-1) and Marshall (7-7, 3-1). In the Southern, Los Angeles (9-3, 4-0) is the team to beat.
