LOS ANGELES, Calif. (August 1, 2010) -- The Inglewood Blackhawks (4-0) finished their 2010 pre-season with an unblemished record by defeating the Valley Predators 33-6. The Bird Gang will now look to regain focus on the tough LCFL schedule which opens up play on August 14th.

The Blackhawks started off slow offensively but got a boost from the defense as (DE) Kori Dickerson picked off a Predator pass on their first play and raced 28 yards before being tackled at the 5 yard line. From there, (RB) Ronald Jean scored from five yards out giving the Blackhawks a 6-0 lead after a blocked PAT. That was Jeans 5th rushing touchdown of the season. From there, the Blackhawk offense got going behind the arm of (QB) Reggie Haynes (13-26 for 195 yds 3 TD's) who found rookie receiver, Kenny Moore for a 24 yard touchdown to give the Blackhawks 13-0 lead. The Blackhawks didn't start their top four receivers to get a look at some rookie players but as soon as they got in the game, they immediately made their presence know. On their 1st play in the game, Haynes found (WR) Solomon Jones (5 rec. 85 yds 1 TD) for a 35 yard touchdown to make the score 20-0. On there next possession, (K) Mark Drake nailed a 32 yard field goal to make the score 23-0. Drake again came in for another attempt in which he again made a 25 yard field goal to elevate the score to 26-0. With 3.2 seconds left in the half and the Bird Gang driving, Haynes found (WR) Thyron Lewis in the end zone to make the score 33-0 going into the half. One of the more promising things on the night was watching newcomer, (RB) Trey Rogers run the ball. Rogers was a beast out there as he carried the ball 8 times for 109 yards. Rogers performance was the 1st 100 yard rushing day for any Blackhawk running back this pre-season. In the second half, the Blackhawks saw every player hot the field including new signee (QB) Devin Hollins. Hollins looked good in his Blackhawk debut and seems to fit right into the Blackhawks scheme of things.

Defensively, the Blackhawks played grimey hard nosed football which didnt allow the Predators over the 50 yard line until the 3rd quarter. Led by newcomer, (DB) Eddie Hunter (3 INT's), the Blackhawk defense looked more dominant than ever. Hunter now has 5 interceptions on the season and looks to be on a record pace. The Blackhawks recorded 3 sacks and 7 interceptions on the day. Dickerson, Hunter, Henderson, and Chris Bell all contributed to the escalated interceptions. The "Darkside" defense looks to be one of the most dominant defenses in Southern California thus far.

The Blackhawks will be off this weekend before opening up the season on Saturday, August 14th against the visiting Desert Valley Knights from Palm Springs. Kickoff will be at 7:00 p.m. at Jackie Robinson Stadium. The theme for the home opener will be "Blackout Night".
