<Fontsize=+1>TIME
The league has three hours of ice time on Friday nights at Ray Friel Arena in Orleans; 9:00, 10:00 and 11:00. The games are 40 minutes in duration and divided into two twenty minutes periods. The first period is continuous time. The last five minutes of the second period is stop-time.

HELMETS

All players must wear a CSA approved hockey helmet with a minimum half visor. Players should not remove their hockey helmets until they are completely off the ice; this is a City By-law.
If a player doesn’t have a visor, a warning will be given to the player to have one for the next game.
If a visor is not worn for the next game, the player will not be allowed to play.

PLAYER'S JERSEY

Each player is responsible for maintaining their jersey in good condition and clean. If a player’s jersey is damaged, it is the responsibility of the player to get the jersey repaired. If the jersey is not repaired or if the jersey is returned to the league in an unacceptable condition, the player will have to reimburse $ 25.00 to the league. If the $25.00 is not paid, the player will not be allowed to play in the league.

MINIMUM PLAYERS
Each team must have a minimum of 6 players (1 goalie and 5 skaters) in order to have a game. If a team does not have the minimal number of players, the game is forfeited to the opposing team. The teams will play a 40-minute game of shinny with no goals, assists or penalties counting, and the referees are not required to stay for the game.
If the team doesn’t have a goalie, the game is forfeited to the opposing team. This is a rule under the OMHA (Ontario Minor Hockey Association). The referees have indicated that this is a safety precaution.

SPARES

NEW REGULAR SEASON SPARE RULE

Health and Safety are paramount and as such, the committee has decided to amend the REGULAR SEASON SPARE RULE as follows:

There is no spare list for skaters.
Each team will have 11 skaters and a goalie.
If a team has 9 skaters or less, the captain may ask another player(s) from the league to play, with permission of the opposing captain.
You may bring the total number of skaters to 10.
The sparing player(s) must be of equal or less in rating, to the player they are replacing.
The timekeeper must be informed of the spares number(s) before starting the game.
A suspended player cannot be replaced at all by a spare of any rating for the game in which the player is serving the suspension.

Any team spare, receiving 9 minutes or more PIMs during a game, will be suspended and those minutes will be added to the player's Regular Season total.

PLAYOFF SPARES
NEW PLAYOFF SPARE RULE!!!
Health and Safety are paramount, and as such, the committee has decided to amend the PLAYOFF RULE FOR SPARE SKATERS as follows:

If a team has 9 skaters or less, the captain may ask another fBOT player(s)
to play to bring the total number to skaters to 10.
The sparing player(s) must be of equal or less in rating to the
player(s) they are replacing and cannot exceed a rating higher than a Level 8.
(Level 8 is the highest rated spare allowed for the playoffs, providing you are
missing a Level 8 rated or higher rated player).
The timekeeper and opposing captain must be informed.
A suspended player cannot be replaced by a spare.

GOALIES
If a goalie cannot play his game, a goalie from another team in the league can be used as a replacement.
There will be a designated goalie replacement list that will be maintained by the committee.
If a goalie from the league cannot be found, it is the responsibility of the captain for that team to contact the committee. Under no circumstances will a goalie not authorized by the committee will be called as a replacement.
Replacement goalies can be used for regular season and playoffs.

DISCIPLINE
The referees are responsible to call all disciplinary actions. The committee has the right to review any incidents and invoke additional disciplinary actions if warranted.

PENALTIES
Regardless of accumulated penalties, any player’s behaviour, inconsistent with league guidelines, can be reviewed by the committee at any time and could lead to suspension or dismissal.

Three (3) penalties in the same game will result in an automatic ejection from the game, plus a one game suspension.
After accumulating 30 minutes in penalties, the player will be suspended for the next game.
After accumulating 36 minutes in penalties, the player will be suspended for the next two games.
After accumulating 39 minutes in penalties, the player will be suspended for the season with NO REFUND.
If a player reaches 30 or 36 minutes in penalties during a game, the player will be suspended for the next game(s) – one game at 30 minutes, two games at 36 minutes.
If a player incurs a misconduct penalty in the first period, he is suspended from play in that game. If the misconduct occurs in the second period, the player must leave the game and will receive an additional game suspension. After 2 misconducts, the player will be suspended from the league with NO REFUND.

NEW: Players reaching the 30 or 36 penalty minute mark during any game can continue playing unless the player receives 3 penalties in that game.
If a player reaches the maximum 39 minutes in penalties in the last game(final) of the playoffs, the player can continue playing unless the player reaches 3 penalties in that game.
If a player reaches the maximum 39 minutes in penalties during a regular game or a playoff game other than the last game (final), the player must leave the ice immediately

All penalties during the game are 3 minutes in length, except if the penalty occurs during the last 5 minutes of the game. Then it is 2 minutes in length (stop time phase).
All penalties count as 3 minutes each toward the total PIM (penalty minutes) for each player.

Spares PIM: a) If a player has 2 or less penalties as a Spare in one game it does not count against his PIM.

b) if a Spare receives 3 penalties in a game, he must serve a 1 game suspension, applied against his own team, and the PIMs are applied to his PIM total, and cannot spare until the suspension is served.

c) The same as above (b) applies for a game misconduct.

If a player is caught switching jerseys during the season because they are getting close to the penalty limit, the player will be suspended for one game and the committee will review the situation.
If a player forgets his jersey and must wear another number for that game, it is the responsibility of the captain to advise the timekeeper of the temporary number change.

If the committee is advised of any physical abuse or threats to the referees or timekeeper, the committee can eject the player from the league with NO REFUND.

If the committee is advised of an incident where a player purposely injured or intended to injure another player, the committee can suspend that player for as many games as is considered appropriate, up to and including ejection from the league with NO REFUND.

If a player has reached 30 or 36 minutes in penalties in a season, the committee will give the player a warning for the next season. The committee has the right to eject that player from the league at any time in the next season even if the maximum penalties have not been reached.

If a player is involved in a fight at any given time, that player is automatically suspended from the league with NO REFUND.

The committee reserves the right to suspend any player from the league, with NO REFUND, for unsportsmanlike conduct at any time during the season. Any violent or unsportsmanlike behaviour will not be tolerated.

Players showing signs of intoxication will be asked not to play. If the player persists on playing he will be suspended from the league with NO REFUND.

SLAP SHOTS
No slap shots are allowed in this league. Slap shots will result in a face-off in the zone of the team having incurred the infraction.
If a player purposely takes a slap shot after the whistle is blown, the referee may impose a penalty to the player.

PLAYER IN THE CREASE
When a player enters the goaltenders crease, the referee shall stop play and have a face-off outside the blue line of the team whose crease was entered.

ANNUAL FEES
All regular or permanent players in the league will pay an annual fee, the amount of which is determined by the committee. Annual fees are determined prior to registration night according to the cost being charged by the City of Ottawa. Goalies are normally charged less than a regular player.

If the annual fee is not paid by registration time, the committee has the right to accept other players.
If a cheque is returned from the Bank as NSF, the player may have to pay an additional cost to cover the transaction.

CAPTAINS
A captain will be assigned for each team. The captain is responsible for assigning a jersey to each player and to ensure the jerseys are kept in good condition.
Captains are responsible to discuss league rules with their players to ensure that all players are aware of the rules in this league. Each captain should carry a copy of the rules with them at all time.
Captains will discuss any problems with the committee.
If the players need to discuss any issues or are in disagreement with something or have a complaint, they should discuss with their captain. Players should not call Committee members with complaints.
If the captains feel that certain issues should be discussed and addressed with the Committee, any captain can request for a meeting.

OTHER
The captain or the captain’s rep (when he is absent) will only approach the time keeper at the start of the game to inform the time keeper of any line-up changes.

Only the referee tells the time keeper when to stop the clock during a game.

Any problems encountered with their team should be reported to the Committee.

Please remember that this is supposed to be a fun league!
