FIRE TRIUMPHS AT DIRECTORS CUP
The road to the Championship Game was a long path that required patience and a good deal of waiting on this rainy and stormy Sunday. The wait was well worth it for the dads on this Fathers Day ... especially the FIRE dads. The team rewarded the fathers with an undefeated (5-0) record and a win in the finals against the Coastal Bad Boyz by shutout five runs to zero.
MVP honors were shared by Nick Fortes and battery mate Kyle Cross. Cross
pitched the first 4 innings of the Title Game and turned the ball over to Michael Byrne who got the final 6 outs and a save. Hunter Allen got some honorable mention in the honors as he shared the catching and had some clutch 2 out hits. Fortes had some big extra base hits including an inside the park HR in the Championship Game.
In 5 games the Fire allowed just 11 runs in five games while scoring a total of 35. The added title will secure the #1 power ranking among the 11U Majors teams accross the Nationwide USSSA polls. The Fire have held the honor for 7 of the past 13 weeks of being considered the top POWER RANKED team for the classification of 11U majors division.
