Fire win SUPER NIT and berth to ELITE 24
After a rare consecutive game losing, the Fire bounced back and got some help enroute to another succesful championship game finish. A nail biting,
2-0 win over the Diamondbacks (that gave them their only loss in the same weekend). The victory gaurantees the Fire a berth in the prestigious event
in August known as the ELITE 24 held at Disney.
Pitching was a big key as the bats went cold this weekend. The finals shutout was earned by starter Michael Byrne and closer Jason Heinrich.
Each pitched a near perfect 3 innings of work.
Offensively the Fire got a first inning leadoff double and a run from Brendan Rodgers who scored on an out to make the difference.
In the game leading to the Championship the Fire held off the Central Florida Patriots 7-2 to spoil upset hopes of this improved club.
