The Florida Fire, under the direction of Ralph Nenna, embarked on the 2008
ELITE 24 with a mission to win at all costs. Despite developing sore arms in their pitching ranks Nenna resolved to add players from the vast player pool in Florida to overcome the need. However the additions have not started to pay dividends yet.

The FIRE lost their two pool games and will play the Pensacola Aqua Sox
in Bracket Play starting 0-2 and as a 10th seed from Pool B.

Announced to come and play were two outstanding players to be added to the full FIRE roster. Daniel Cepeda was added from Miami area, and Jon Register from the Tampa area. Both bring a strong right arm and a history of playing for the FIRE as guest players.

In the past the two along with Jason Heinrich from Spring Hill, FL and Darren Miller from Tampa have been added to bolster the team depth at pitching. Most of the times the additions were done to cover for a missing player in an event of National stature. This time it was all about LOADING UP!

One Coach was removed from the team for his dissention over the way GUEST players were taking roles of regular season Fire players. He felt that players that were part of the mix all year should have an opportunity to contribute in a greater capacity.

The argument and debate still rages over what is the team about. It appears the Fire have let the Spirit of the team evaporate under the pressure of winning.

Let's see if the team battles back in Bracket play. The message is clear that you better produce or be replaced so the pressure is on.
