    Complex Take Over
Well here is the skinny on the taking over the complex, as I understand it. But first of all let me say this. I know a lot of people have other things in life to do other than go to a GFSA meeting and one on short notice at that. I feel that the turn out was at best poor. I have heard a lot of complaints about the condition of the complex and how it has been ran in the last few years and many have been posted on this site. Some from people in Great Falls and some from people out of town. Let me get to the point, if people in this town that play softball do not put forth the time and effort to make this complex better it will never get better and the league will continue to decline.
Well enough of the soapbox. Looks like all we have to do now is get the OK for the city council. We are purposing that we take over everything, league, tournaments, maintenance and so on. We will have to hire someone to be the complex manager and two other crewmembers to do the maintenance. We will rent the complex from the city for $1 per year and then all revenue will go back into the association. We are going to require the high school team to play to play just as we do, so no more free rides for the high school teams. Many other things like a league work day, this is were team managers would ask some or all team member show up at the fields maybe one night a week and help with field maintenance and the association would buy the
BEER. Another suggestion that was brought up was many we could offer a new team discount on league fees, in doing this it might help get new and younger teams in the league and help keep the league going. There was also mention of increasing the number of league game to two nights a week; this would include a small increase in league fees something like $100.
I think taking over the complex is a good idea, but it is not going to be easy and if we go into the red you can bet your ass that the city will take their cash cow back. So in closing, we all need to pitch in and help save our league.
