POOL PLAY: DAY 1 RECAP
CANES & FIRE leap into the favored position with 2-0 pool play records.
However, no Semi-final positions are assured yet! The Bullets and Tornadoes
are hanging on to a thread ...for a chance to sneak into the finals round today each with just a glimmer of hope.
The pressure is really on the two 1 win and 1 loss teams - Panthers and Warriors - as they can only do so much in the picture of how it needs to go for them to make it as well. They need help from other teams.Elsewhere,
The Miami Enforcers need to beat the Canes today to advance ... unless the Bullets Gold upset the Warriors. Then it would rely on runs allowed.
The Dynasty Elite got off to a great start with a pounding of the ball in an awesome display of hitting powered by two home runs. Winning going away 13-1 over the Panthers of Coral Springs. Coral Springs would bounce back to beat the West Boynton Tornadoes 8-0 to set up their must win situation today against the Fire sitting (2-0) prettty after a close win against the Tornadoes 6-5 and a tailor made blow out over the Dynasty Elite 12-0.
If the Panthers win it would fall on the Dynasty Elite to beat the Tornadoes and hope for a good final score to decide the two teams to advance from this pool GROUP A.
In pool B the Canes took charge and out hit the wellington Warriors to claim the first game 10-6 and held on to triumph over rival Bullets Gold
7-6 in the final game of the day to get to (2-0) the top position. Wellington Battled back to beat the Miami Enforcers 7-6 in the south version of a grudge match.
Unfortunately the day was not kind to either the Bullets Gold or the Tornadoes. We wish them the best today. Each could prove to be a spoiler and still each has a long shot to make it in to Championship Play. A combination of losses and a victory for each could give a back door ticket to the Semi-finals. The Fire would have to go (3-0) and so would the Canes
need to win out to allow the next team at 1-2 to be selected as the second representative of each pool.
