Regular season coming to a close with a bang!
Last week brought us closer to the end of the regular season, as another two close games were on tap in the HHEFL. First, on Wednesday the 27th it was the Chicago Bears narrowly defeating the Carolina Panthers again by the final of 28-23. The Panthers wrap up their regular season with a bang, after trailing in this game they come back and come up just short of winning the game. The second game of the week featured a defensive battle from Wavra Stadium. On Friday night the 29th, the Chicago Bears and San Diego Chargers did battle. Friday nite featured the first of two meetings between the Chicago Bears and the San Diego Chargers. It was a marathon-of-a-game with most of the action squeezed into the last half of the final quarter. San Diego returned the opening kickoff 63 yards and struck quickly with a 33 yard TD to #48 on 3rd and 6. After this initial score, the game evolved into a defensive slugfest and a halftime score of 7-0 Chargers. This defensive battle continued through the 3rd quarter, as San Diego picked up a field goal following a blocked Bear's punt. Chargers 10, Bears 0. The Bears running game came to life midway in the 4th, as #29 scored from 45 yards out to make it a 10-6 game. The Chargers offense continued to stall, and the Bears blocked the Chargers punt, recovering at the Chargers 8 yd. line. Two plays later, #29 punched it in, and with the 2pt. conversion, a furious Bears comeback seemed complete at 14-10, with just 2 minutes left. But, hold on, The Chargers still had 3 plays after the kickoff to work with--and they didn't waste any time, as Brees lasered one to #24 for a 64yd. TD. The stunned Bears were not to pull off another last second KO miracle, as Hester was corralled at the 27 yd. line. Final Score: Bears 14, Chargers 17.
Complete stats and highligths of all the last seven game to come, as the 2007 regular season is down to the final two games...stay tuned...
