The HHEFL is proud to announce the inaugural 2008 Hoosier Heartland Invitational
I am proud to announce the Inaugural 2008 Hoosier Heartland Invitational-benefitting the Boy Scouts of America

When: April 19, 2008 9am-9pm

Where: Ramada Inn Logansport, Indiana

It is with great pride that I announce the first miniature football tournament in Indiana in 2008. The hobby of Miniature Football has the Seawall Brawl, The Texas Shootout, Buzzfest, The Miggle Convention, The Bama Blast, The Columbus Day Bash just to name a few…joining the list for the first time is the 2008 Hoosier Heartland Invitational…a tournament designed to raise money for the Boy Scouts of America and bring coaches together from around the Mid-West for some great tournament action. The one day event will be held at the Ramada Inn in Logansport, Indiana in their Grand Ball Room and is open to all coaches of all different skill levels.

I have been working on this tournament idea for over a year now and now it has become a reality. The moneys raised during this event will go towards purchasing a Pine Wood Derby track for Logansport Boy Scout Troop 3203 ($750 is the goal). We plan on having several raffles during the one day event, including raffling off several miniature football items donated from the MFCA community, as well as, from local businesses. I am also not asking for any fees to enter the tournament, however I am suggesting a $25-$30 donation to the Boy Scouts fund, but it is not going to be a requirement. Trophies will be provided for the Tournament Champion, Runner-up and other categories to be announced later.

The Event Schedule
As for the days’ events…it is going to an event never seen before. We are going to have three troops from the local area accompanied by a parent…total of 65-70 Scouts in all. Here is the general schedule:

9am: Invitational Opens
9am-10:30am: First group of 35 Boy Scouts will make their way through the seminars and skills competitions on miniature football. Volunteer coaches are going to man 10 stations in which each Scout will learn one aspect of football and miniature football at the same time. Each Scout will receive a special patch for the event, complimentary TTQB, players, bases and awards earned.
10:30-Noon: Second group of 35 Boy Scouts will make their way through just as the first group.
12:15-6pm: Time for the “Big Kids” to play. Hoosier Heartland Invitational Tournament begins with “round robin” type rounds to determine who will play in the Championship game. Rules and format to be provide soon, however the general format will be HHEFL rules, you will play everyone at the tourney and a point system will determine top two coaches for the championship. The Championship game will be a timed game and a referee will be provided. We are working to get the local radio station to cover the event.
6pm-8:30pm: HHI Championship Game.
8:30pm-9pm: Trophy Presentations and Invitational closing.

Special hotel rates of $79 per night have been arranged for those coming from out of town. To make reservations you just need to call the Ramada Inn at 574-753-6351 and ask for the special rate for April 19th.

To register for the event you can call me at 574-722-1204 or e-mail at mmmculp@comcast.net
Several tables will also be opened up during the Boy Scout event for coaches to just come and play and demonstrate the hobby to the public.

I hope everyone can attend and I look forward to seeing you at the Invitational!
