Congratulations to our 2018 I-270 champions.
Bantam Champions - Clarksburg
Congratulations to coaches Bryan Korzeniewski and Robyn Jones on their outstanding season and a very tough win in the championship game against coach Dave Dabbondanza and his Gaithersburg team that gave Clarksburg all they could handle. But in the end the Clarksburg team, their tenacious full court press and the outstanding play of game MVP Myles Pollard-Jones and Josiah Teasley were too much to hanlde. Congratulations Clarksburg Bantams!
Junior Champions - Gaithersburg
After going 16-0 in the regular season and sailing through the first two rounds off the playoffs the undefeated Gaithersburg Juniors coached by Mark Simmons ran into an Olney team coached by Mike Plainte and Bob Clayton determined to ruin their undefeated season. Flawless execution of an outstanding game plan and hot shooting by their guards propelled Olney to an early lead which they extended to double digits late in the second half. But it was the tremendous play of game MVP Jason Boyd who dominated the inside and the boards as well as the all out Gaithersburg full court pressure that enabled them to storm back sending the game into OT where they narrowly won 53-52. Congratulations to the Olney coaches and players on an outstanding season and congratulations to coach Simmons and his Gaithersburg team for their 19-0 championship season.
Senior Champions - Gaithersburg
Congratulations to coaches Paul and Padon Levine for completing the 3peat!
The father-son coaching team won their 3rd championship in a row with a convincing victory over a talented and well coached Clarksburg team lead by coach Tony Crawford. Outstanding play by Clarksburg's Nunu Taylor and Elliott Joppy kept things close in the early going but tough defense by Gaithersburg and balanced offense led by game MVP Mandela Tarke proved to be too much leading Gaithersburg on to Victory.
Congratulations to coaches Paul and Padon on completing the trifecta!
