Game 5 - Savin Hill Hornets @ East Boston Knights

Knights defeated Hornets on Knights home opener in front of one of the largest crowds to show up for a Knights YBL baseball game. EAST BOSTON, MA.....After starting the season 2 and 2 on their 4 game road trip to open the season the Knights returned home after an 11 day layoff to face off against division foe Savin Hill in the blazing heat at East Boston Stadium. The Knights sent Sean Hannon to the bump to face off against Nate Hoder. Hannon went 3 innings striking out 8 allowing only one hit in his season debut for the Knights. Newcomers Corey Laliberte and Max Ocner combined along with Steve Hueston to finish off the job Hannon started. In all Knights pitching allowed only 2 hits and struck out 15 Hornets on the night. Laliberte struck out the side in the 4th inning making his first ever appearance as a Knight.Offensively the Knights bats went cold. Chris Dowd hit a shot that got by the left fielder for an RBI triple. Dowd now leads the YBL in RBI with 8. Jared Kenney chipped in with 2 RBI and Geoff Harris stole 2 bases on the night.

 

Game 6 - Al Thomas A's vs East Boston Knights

A's did it again to the Knights. A's overcome a Ben McBride bomb grand slam to put up 7 in the 6th and hold on for a 9-6 win over East Boston. Freddi Carrera led the way with 4 hits and 3 stolen bases, while Dan Gaughan held the Knights at bay for the last 2 innings to preserve the win. Ben McBride hit his first career Grand Slam and make that the first ever Knights player to hit the salami in franchise history. Eaton was solid but the bullpen couldn't hang. New acquisition Brad "Tater Tots" Tardugno went hitless in his debut on the night overshadowed by a Bruins game

Game 7- East Boston Knights vs Malden Bulldogs

With mother nature bringing down buckets of rain cancelling four games in a 10 day span, the sun finally come up as the Knights travel to Pine Banks to face the Malden Bulldogs where Tardugno and Luongo face their former team. Game was tight until more foolishness this time darkness postponed that game. They finish the game 8 days later on the campus of Brandeis University where the Knights won 6-1

East Boston Knights @ Al Thomas A's

After days and days of cancellations caused by Mother Nature's wrath of thunderstorms and downpours, the Knights finally get to play baseball in sunny weather down in Milton. But the Knights mentally were on the Bruins game and left their bats and defense at home as they were one-hit by the A's who were coming into this game on a losing streak on their own. Simply put, the Knights got beat on a blazing hot afternoon

Malden Bulldogs @ East Boston Knights

This is the second game for the Knights on that day following playing out the suspended contest. Knights bats fall silent once again as the Knights pitchers were outdueled by the Malden ones. The Bulldogs defeated the Knights 3-1. Gordon Thomas and Troy Thibodeau combined pitching allowed only 3 hits with 6 K's. Malden's Offense was led by Mike Oliveira, Anthony Perry and Rob Marks with RBI's. Devis Baez also chipped in with 2 hits.

Brighton Minutemen @ East Boston Knights

DORCHESTER, MA..The Knights and Minutemen faced off on a hot and steamy evening at Ronan Park for the first of 2 games between the clubs this season. The Knights sent Sean Hannon to the bump for the home town team and he did not disappoint. Hannon went 5 innings allowing 1 run (unearned) capturing his first win of the season. Kenny Luongo pitched the 6th and 7th striking out the side in the 7th to close out the game for the Knights. The Knights trailing 1 - 0 in the 4th inning exploded for 5 runs in the frame capped off by a Brad Tardungo double laced to left-centerfield to drive in 2. Jose Paulino, Kenny Polonco and Wilson Mercado all had 2 hits for the Knights as they went on to win 7 - 4.
