Former Knight pitcher
Robbie Wooley, who started with the Knights at the beginning of the season, was selected for the

independent
Frontier League All-Star game. Wooley is enjoying a solid season with the
Southern Illinois Miners. He owns a 4-1 record and a 2.31 ERA. In 47 innings of work, he has struck out 39 batters and allowed just 35 hits. In an over the phone interview with the Knights Wooley noted his fastball has reached a low 90's velocity and his two seam had good movement. He also throws batters off with a hard breaking curveball.
Wooley will play for the South squad in the game which is set for Wednesday in Florence, Kentucky. Note: Wooley was a former Taylor High School standout and was drafted in the sixth round of the 2003
MLB Draft by the
Milwaukee Brewers and played four seasons with the Brewers and eventually made it to the club's "A" level team. An injury caused the Brewers to release them before he signed to play with the Knights earlier this season. After a tryout for many professional scouts in Chicago Wooley made a deal with the Miners to sign a contract if he was not signed by a MLB organization before a set date.
