Knights Management Consider Options for '08
Kokomo CFD Knights management will be meeting with sponsors and talking with players in the upcoming days to decide the team’s fate for next year. It has already been decided that the team will still be around but the course of direction for the organization is still unknown. The two main leagues in Indiana are the Midwest Prospects Baseball League (MPBL), featuring most of Indiana’s elite teams and the Indianapolis Adult Baseball League (IABL) that the Knights tried out in their inaugural season.
The IABL is ruled by the Indianapolis Stallions, a team that is arguably the top team in the state year in and year out. The Indianapolis Hurricanes and Indy Dodgers also fight for league supremacy every year. After an unsuccessful year in the league last season, the Knights would have to enlist for reinstatement to play in the IABL. The MPBL is arguably the top league in the state. A collegiate/semi-pro level league, the MPBL features most of Indiana’s top teams such as the South Bend Senators, Lafayette Lumberjacks, Warsaw Indians and more. If the Knights are formed of mainly collegiate players again in 2008, the MPBL would seem like the best choice of league. The league plays a larger, more compact schedule than the IABL, and is built for younger teams while the IABL is built for older teams with less available time. These are just two of the options that are out there for the Knights.
A few more options are being considered and it is likely the Knights will make a decision within the next month or two. The Knights finished the 2007 season with a 16-5 loss to the Kokomo Braves. The squad had an 11-18 overall record and a 4-14 league record.
Note: The Knights website will undergo a few changes over the off season. As of now a new header has been added to give the site a more professional look and the site has been set to a specific size rather than always adapting to the screen. This gives more options on what can be done with the site without things overlapping or lining up incorrectly. Keep tuned in to the site to get all the latest information.
