The region II 4A powerlifting tournament was held at Oxford High School this past Saturday. The contestants competed on an individual and team basis with two local teams coming out on top. Lafayette High School captured first place with a total of 69 team points, Oxford finished second with 45 points, Hernando placed third with 39 points, Cleveland came in fourth with 22 points, and Clarksdale finished fifth with 15 points.
At stake in the individual weight classes was the chance to advance to Itawamba High School on March 6th to compete in the North Half tournament. Lifters had to finish in the top three of their weight class to get the opportunity to advance to the next competition. Oxford and Lafayette lifters placement at Regionals are:
