9/15 - Sharks Defeat Pirates in Fall Season Debut
The Long Island Baymen Sharks finally got their Fall Season underway Saturday night after another rain-out on Friday night. The Sharks opened up against the Mastic Pirates at Baseball Heaven on a very pleasant evening.
MJ took the mound and was brilliant for 6 innings allowing only 1 run. The Shark defense was in also in good form cutting down a runner at second base on an attmepted double and making all the plays to keep the Pirates offense in check.
The Sharks took advantage on the basepaths stealing several bases with Matthew M. putting on a baserunning exhibition. The Sharks mounted a 5-1 lead going into the 6th inning. The Pirates threatend with runners on 1st & 2nd, but were shut down with a nice 4-3 double play starting with Brian A. snagging a line drive and firing a strike to Davey B. to end the threat.
The final batter struck-out and the Sharks went on to win their first game in the 11u division, 5-1.
Well wishes go out to Thomas B. who was removed from the game with a foot injury. Get well soon!
